Since the oldest city in America is St. Agustine, 1565, is still heavily populated by Spaniard descendants, it's not too surprising. Add the rest of Florida, Louisiana, and western states of California, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Texas, there's a lot of history there. 20% of Americans are of Hispanic descent, they must remember something!

@@foreignreacts Yep, it starts being really wrong since he put Granada kingdom in the southwest, was in the southeast. Catalonia is in the north and not in the south. He claimed that all the external posesions in Europe came from habsburgs but Naples, Sicily and Sardinia were conquered by Aragon years ago. The spanish inquisition was really mild even from european standards and it makes sense since they already expelled moors and jews centuries ago while in some german states they were the most brutal ones. The inflation is oversimplified by saying "uhh they so bad so they had inflation" while the reality is yes, there were a lot of inflation but because of the constant wars against mainly the dutch who recently gained independence and wanted "Belgium", sending troops there was really expensive and for some reason the habsburgs kings didn't want to give up on that region, that's why the inflation. Now with more recent things, instead of industrialize we had to DE-industrialize to enter in the European union, mostly because of the new regulations and also competence. For now those are the things I remember that they are wrong, oh... and Catalonia's independence is mostly tried to push by politicians, not that much the population, I feel that maybe 30-40% would like the independence but not the rest since it could end very wrong. Last time in 2017 when the illegal referendum took place a lot of companies changed their location from Barcelona to Madrid scared by the unstability

It may have escaped you but the cold, calculating evil person in Hollywood films (if not Russian) etc has a British accent most of the time. I perhaps am an Anglo-Saxon..but also Norse Viking and perhaps Norman French. But I have nothing in common with American KZbin makers or film makers. It’s very very sad that you think there is no difference in mindset.

Obviously, there are differentiating nuances due to the sociological evolution of each country. However, as I tried to explain in my long reply to your comment (It seems that we are both missing things) we are influenced by currents of thought and scales of values that go back a long way and that, for better or worse, still prevail. The idea of evil Spaniards was created by the Netherlands in the during the Flemish wars against Iberian monarchy, later was spread and magnified by England during the numerous warlike confrontations between the two powers. Posteriorly, the same idea was inherited by US and was utilized to support ideologically the Manifest destiny theory and by press (mainly by the William Randolph Hearst's newspapers) in order to create an adverse opinion against Spain during the war between the US and Spain in 1898. From there it jumped to movies, schools texts and remains there. So it doesn't matter if someone who work in cultural diffusion, uncritically immersed in the main stream of thought, were born in Russia or if her grandparents were born in China. These people will repeat and magnify the existing prejudices in the society in which they function. Be it thought Hollywood, KZbin or thought the British Pinewood Studios. Personally, I have nothing against the British or the Americans people. What's more, I have British relatives and I love them a lot. They are also very proud of their origins, both in their Anglo-Saxon roots and their Iberian roots. Despite this, I do not like anything that false stereotypes are repeated and disseminated in which my country is falsely labelled and belittled, and I rebel against it. En cuanto al tema de la Inquisición...recordemos que por aquel entonces...( y más allá) , los países protestantes de Europa hacían razzias violentas contra otras religiones y perseguía a científicos y disidentes o condenaba a gente a ser colgados o a la hoguera por esas razones...y no eran España....EEUU tuvo sus propias vegüenzas ( no quería recordar los juicios de Salem, por ejemplo..) y aún las tiene.... ..y recordar también como España , en sus zonas de colonias, siempre tendió al mestizaje, no a la exterminación y segregación, como los colonos del norte de América ...

Casi, ... España no tuvo colonias, otro rasgo que nos diferencia de los racistas y genocidas anglos (holandeses, belgas, franceses, alemanes, gringos, árabes, rusos, ...) España era un reino con virreinatos, capitanías generales y provincias. Esto es territorios de ultramar (como Canarias) con ESPAÑOLES en iguales condiciones en todos los territorios fuera Europa, Africa, Améria o Asia. Eran territorios ESPAÑOLES, no DE España. Brief explanation of why we skipped the First and Second World Wars World War I, basically, the war started in 1914 far from us (France and Belgium mainly) and was stuck for 3 years on the same front fighting the French and British against the Germans and Austro-Hungarians in the same trenches. In 1917, the Americans arrived to help Britain and France and by November 1918 it was all over. In World War II we were able to see part of the action, before the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). General Franco´s fascist rebelion was supported by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy against the Second Republic (the legal Government) . The Western democracies decided not to help the Spanish Republic, only the USSR and Worlwide brave antifascist volunteers The International Brigades came to help ( The Lincoln Brigade fom America between them) and in 3 years the fascist army defeated the republicans and 40 years of dictatorship and cruel repression began. When WWI started many Republican soldiers who had scaped from Franco´s repression, decided to join the Allies against Nazi Germany. Mainly in a French division commanded by General LeKlerc, the Spanish company 9 (La NUEVE) was crucial in the liberation of Paris in 1944. By the end of 1940, the III Reich ruled almost all Europe and Hitler wanted Spain to join him full time, all in, They set a meeting in Hendaya, in the border with Spain and the Ocuppied France, FRanco Kept Hitler Waiting and according to witnesses Hitler stressed out and left without anything tahat wanted very anoyed, one of Hitler`s Generals advise him to invade and force Spain to join and obey , Hitler replayed something about this : "No one can enter Spain without permission from the Spanish, they will mount guerrillas everywhere behind us all the time, diverting resources and efforts, the Spanish seem undisciplined and poorly organized, but they are proud and they are the only truly brave Mediterranean people. Something that not many people know, because the brave-ish but not very skillful General De Gaulle wanted it that way, is that Dietrich von Choltitz, Commander in Chief of the German Occupation Forces in Paris, surrendered to Amado Granell, a Spanish republican C.O. who had been fighting against fascism since 1936. .Amado and his platoon of spanish civil war veterans were the unit that took the german Head Quarters in Paris When the war was over by 1945, the naive spanish republicans though that now the allies will go to Spain and kick Franco out, but they were wrong, Winston S Churchil said " Franco is a problem, but now is a problem for the spanish, thanks for your service and f..c k off"

The video you're reacting to has quite a few inaccuracies, especially in the part related to the empire but I'll only focus on the two most clear ones and also clarify your doubts about Spain's non-participation in the two world wars. 1.- It wasn't Fernando of Aragon who sponsored Christopher Columbus' trip, it was Queen Isabel of Castile. King Fernando wasn't in favor of the idea. 2.- As bad as the Inquisition was, what is said in this video is part of the Black Legend of Spain. More people (heretics, supposed witches, etc.) died at the hands of secular courts in England or Germany than in Spain. But as seen in this video, it is a myth that still persists today. 3.- Spain remained neutral during the two World Wars, just like Switzerland. During WW2, in addition to Spain and Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, and Turkey also remained neutral.

Spanish Inquisition is a misnomer or concept. “The holy office” or “Holy Inquisition” is a slow process created by the Roman curia of the Christian-Roman clergy: that is, it was an institution created by Rome (Holy See) and established in all Christian territory, including Spain. The inquisition was a religious court, whose purpose and objective was in fact to judge sins and heresies, which by definition could only come from those who officially professed the Catholic religion (the only Christian religion at that time, not counting that of the Horthodox, since the branches Protestant Christians had not yet emerged). Therefore, there is the misconception of only limiting the inquisition as “Spanish” and saying that it killed Jews or Muslims for being so, since in theory it judged Christians. La Inquisición (española, católica) fue la última en establecerse en Europa (y la última en derogarse) y evitó los errores, abusos, excesos y crueldades de los demás tribunales de su tiempo, civiles y religiosos que la precedieron. La Inquisición Española fue, con diferencia, el tribunal más justo, clemente, adelantado y humano de su tiempo (y algunos posteriores). Fue un MONUMENTO DEL DERECHO PROCESAL a diferencia de los bárbaros, torturadores sádicos y salvajes, auténticos linchamientos que fueron las inquisiciones protestantes de las que nadie habla (curioso) sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que quemaron diez veces más personas y torturaron sin tasa a miles de personas algo casi desconocido en la inquisición española pero es la católica (española) contra la que van todas las críticas (injustas) porque la mayoría desconocen que hubiera otras inquisiciones, protestantes, de cuyos crímenes y torturas, pero acusan a la española (católica) que no los cometió pero la única a la que se critica, se difama, se hacen documenales, series, películas, etc. sin fin llenas de exageraciones, errores, o simples mentiras. Como se conservan sus documentos sabemos todo de ella, sus jueces, casos, acusados, testimonios, fechas, sentencias, ... todo. En unos 350 años en 4 continentes (en un Imperio que no se ponía el Sol, de Europa, Africa, Asia y América) sentenció a muerte a unas 2.500 personas (aunque el número de ejecutados fue menor). Es decir, una media de unos 7 al año. EN EEUU siglos después siguen ejecutándose (sentenciando más) a muerte cada año una media de 17, es decir más del doble y en la actualidad, pero la Española era "oscuratista" "terrible", bla, bla, bla, bla,... mientras EEUU es el espejo de democracias, derechos, libertades, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, ... Lo curioso es que llevamos más de 500 años de LEYENDA NEGRA antiespañola y sus mentiras siguen vigentes incluso más que nunca (Google, Hollywood, Netflix, HBO, Disney, Marvel, National Gegraphic, BBC, ....) Era un tribunal, el español (católico), tan "terrible" que sus métodos, innovaciones, figuras, protocolos ... son los que usan HOY TODOS los tribunales CIVILIZADOS DEL MUNDO. Si algún día se ve ante un tribunal debería saber (y agradecer, por muchas mentiras que sobre ella y la Historia de España viertan) que fue la Inquisición la que le da tantas garantías y herramientas para defenderse, entre otros inventos e innovaciones que aplicó la Inquisición Española (católica) y hoy son habituales en todos los tribunales están: - abogado defensor, uno de los revoluicinarios inventos de la Inquisición española. - médico forense (idem) - programas de protección de testigos. - investigación y severas penas para testimonios falsos. - poder del reo de recusar al juez (jueces) - poder del reo de recusar testigos contrarios. - poder aportar el reo testigos favorables. - posibilidad de segunda instancia (si no está de acuerdo con sentencia podía recurrir a otro tribunal) - no se aceptaban denuncias anónimas. - para abrir una causa se precisaban, mínimo, 3 acusaciones bien fundadas e identificadas. - considerar, por primera vez, circunstancias atenuantes. - la española (católica) juzgaba los hechos pero también la intención. - SUPRIMIR LA TORTURA tan habitual en su tiempo en TODOS Los tribunales de Europa, civiles y religiosos. La Inquisición española la suprime mientras rige en toda Europa. - la sentencia se dictaba por un inquisidor, el obispo y autoridades civiles relevantes, las penas más severas debían ser por unanimidad para ser efectivas. Y es curioso que las inquisiciones PROTESTANTES, brutales, auténticos linchamientos sin garantía alguna para el reo, con sádicas torturas y ejecutando docenas de miles de personas al año sean casi desconocidas para el público. Estas inquisiciones protestantes (calvinista, anglicana, etc.) durante años torturaron salvajemente por una simple acusación en falso o una superstición y quemaban en la hoguera .... cuando la "fiebre" de las brujas llega a España desde Europa la Inquisición española (católica) hizo su trabajo (inquisición = investigación) y descubre que NO hay tales brujas y en España NO se quema una sola mujer mientras en Europa cada año arden a docenas de miles con sádicas torturas pero ... los oscurantistas y bárbaros son los españoles.

Que bien explicado! Quería añadir porque la historia de las "brujas" es súper interesante, que creo que sí que se ejecutaron varias personas aunque no se a ciencia cierta si acusadas de brujería o simplemente de herejía por creer en la brujería (ya que la inquisición española no creía en las brujas), y que la mayoría de condenas que hubo fueron a manos de tribunales civiles más que de la inquisición. Aparte de lo que ya dijo usted que no se puede comparar a los cientos de miles de muertes que causó la inquisición en el resto d Europa. La historia de Alonso de Salazar, el abogado de las brujas, en el caso de Zugarramurdi, es súper interesante! 😊

Pero es que además, si fuimos, al nivel que se pudo, hubo Españoles luchando en los dos bandos, La división Azul con los Alemanes en Rusia, y miles de republicanos que se unieron al Ejercito Rojo, Al Ejercito Británico, A la división LeclerK Francesa ( Que tomó Paris) .... A los partisanos Yugoslavos .... También en la Legión Extranjera Francesa, Total unos 10.000 españoles lucharon en las filas Aliadas, y 50.000 en los batallones de trabajo del ejercito francés, mas los 17.000 divisionarios azules en Rusia. Para ser un país neutral no está nada mal.

Si España no entró en la segunda guerra mundial fue porque, según Franco, sólo había reservas de comida para un día. Se vivía así después de que la segunda república de 1930 fracasara y los fascistas terminaran de romper el país durante 40 años y su ya de por sí endeble convivencia, algo que seguimos pagando y por lo que no terminamos de ser un estado serio al estar gobernados siempre por políticos que utilizan los rencores de la guerra civil... Convertirse o morir...era lo que cada religión exigía en el periodo de conquista ..la conquista de los musulmanes fue igual...convertirse a la religión musulmana o morir....y paso en todas partes....era lo habitual en las religiones patriarcales....o conmigo o contra mi....después, una vez pasado el tiempo, había pequeñas comunidades de cristianos en territorios controlados por los árabes, cerca de zonas cristianas, como los mozárabes y se permitió una cierta independencia religiosa a nivel personal a " las gentes del libro", ya que Mahoma había sacado la mayor parte de su idea religiosa del judaísmo y el cristianismo ....pero en el primer lugar, durante la conquista, la eleccion siempre era esa....en todas partes y con todas las religiones ...los romanos de Cesar intentaron acabar con los druidas ...la gente es así...🙄
