As someone who isn't particular attracted to either of them, there is still a part of me that wants to see them married and living happily ever after. They just seem like the perfect couple. Although Greg obviously delights in humiliating Alex, the slightly more subtle piece is how much effort Alex puts into irritating Greg and catching him off guard (so that he can be punished??). They are the perfect yin and yang. And behind the performances and personas you can tell there is genuine affection between them. If only it wasn't platonic...

It's interesting how Joanne says stuff that seems completely outlandish for which she is first roasted and which then turns out to be true. Happened with the nasolabial fold and the pig story. Though "pigs have gotten smarter" is a slight misrepresentation of the actual study that just found that they were smarter than we previously believed. And yes, they did play video games and learned them faster than chimpanzees.
@pretzelhunt
@pretzelhunt 7 ай бұрын
it's also because, Dr. Zaius, we dont have a great grasp or objectiveness on human intelligence quantification, so an animal study would warrant even less explicit amounts. It's difficult to not make it simple pop-psych clickbait.

@@sharkofjoy Acquisition of a Joystick-Operated Video Task by Pigs (Sus scrofa); Croney, Boysen. 2021. The skinny: In a rudimentary video game, all 4 pigs performed better than they would with pure chance. While the results concerning how they learned, i.e. got better at the game, was mixed, the fact that they understood how they impacted what was happening on the screen gives them a kind of awareness few other species have. The study with the chimpanzees isn't openly accessible, so I couldn't check the data about whether the pigs truly outperformed the chimps as dozens upon dozens of articles state, but the study does exist and it stands to reason those publications (some of them with high reputation) didn't make that part up when everything else is backed and available.

@@brookewestonctc not only. That is how Alex always does things. You can tell from outisde the banter section. Or if you watch No more jockeys, it's Alex, Tim Key and Mark Watson doing THAT all the time. Bouncing of each other in open ended non-punchline improvisation. Greg would absolutely hate that i guess. But i don't, because it's better or at least different from every other interchangeable stand up comedy, which just feels the same for decades. At least in moderation. :) in a perfect world, this could be nice, myself I could happily watch a 24 hour channel of it :) Tho I'd expect that the main edit length and format is to fit the live channel 4 tv broadcast slot. It's probably a tricky thing for them to balance. So the way it's uploaded is likely to be the simplest, without incurring a lot of extra cost in doing multiple edits at broadcast quality and/or it getting more complicated just in legal clearances etc [as this is Avalon, an international broadcast tv company's output - so they would need to have some executive check and quality control all of that sorta thing in case it bites them on the arse later]

Greg making a reference to the fan fiction writers’ flights of fantasy with the toaster being “earned” remark? I am not going to check if someone has written that into a story. But they probably will.

I'm glad they cut the bit about the world's youngest grandmother - it's quite dark if you think about the age of the people involved...
@TarunoNafs
@TarunoNafs 7 ай бұрын
Google told me the youngest grandmother was 23. She herself married when she was 11 (and her husband 13), and gave birth to her daughter at the age of 12. Then her daughter married at the age of 10, and gave birth to her first child a year later. They are from a Romani cultural background, according to the news report.

I love this show so much, but can you please add good English subtitles to outtakes like you do it with episodes? I really want to understand what I see, but I'm not native and it's really difficult

It must be so difficult for someone not used to different English accents. I even remember Greg getting confused by Chris Ramsay. Chris had a bit of a rant and Greg's response was 'no, that's too geordie for me' . I'm Cornish so everything confuses me.

@@mokeyat oh yes, I remember that bit! it's very reassuring when someone even English speaking doesn't quite understand what another English speaking person says. I remember seeing on Instagram how Scottish man was asked several times to repeat his words because no one could understand him at some committee meeting.

If anyone wants to know about the youngest grandma I goggled it - A Romanian housewife, now 25, is believed to be the world's youngest grandmother. The Sun is reporting that mother-of-two Rifca Stanescu was just 12 years old when she had her first child, Maria.

Episode 4 didn't have an Alex segment and I can kinda see why. It was all over the place. I think it might be the first time they've cut it out but I could be wrong. But when watching the episode, I immediately realized that there was no Alex segment because I look out for it for two reasons: Greg hates it and Alex has a weird brand of humor which i like

I hope Greg isn't genuienly getting annoyed w/ Alex. It's already sad to know that Penn and Teller were never friends, and that Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman also didn't get along outside of MythBusters. 😟
