Not only do you need good reason to fire people in Europe, you also need to give at least 3 month notice period. You can terminate from day to day but you still have to pay salery in the entire notice period
@magdalenabozyk1798
@magdalenabozyk1798 Жыл бұрын
In Sweden it depends on what you are terminated for. If it is because you punched your boss in the face for no reason, you can go on the day (even be escorted by the security out the door - I've sen security escort done once, but not for physical violence - it was for "illoyalty"). And you don't get any salary. You can also be terminated this way if you refuse an obvious order, do a criminal act, or have been warned several times in the past for doing things that go against your contract. If you get terminated due to work-shortage and bad times, then you get several months notice, depending on your (and your union's) contract. These tend to be different lengths depending on how long you've worked there. One month being the shortest. Both of these forms of termination are called different things in Sweden. The first one is called avsked, and the other one is uppsägning.

In Belgium you can do either. Or go through your Union or go to court yourself. And if you are not with a union at the moment of dismissal, you can join one right on the day. That is if they do not take your case without you being a member. And you can pick between several unions. And the company does not care if you are union or not. I know in my company who the representatives are, but other than that I have no idea who is union and who is not.

Well, she is right in her analysis. You have shown a lot of clips about working rules in Europe and this is just an example. She mentions the 8% of the salary that we (at least Swedes and Dutch people) get for vacation. The companies has to pay the worker extra money for the vacation. Isn`t social welfare great!

Before the webcams and cameras hanging around your offices, the companies loved key-press loggers. So that they could see what you have been typing at work. I'm fairly sure these are illegal in Europe too. Including unreasonable cameras at work (that are there just to supervise you).

It’s the same in Denmark. Except it’s not legal to use bodycams on employees. At most there’s a gps tracker in company cars so that they are easier to find if they get stolen.

Yup. And the GPS can only be read when there's actual cause. Ofcourse, when dealing with delivery companies there's cause at basically all times for delivery vehicles, but with leased cars and stuff you simply can't do that.

@@ericdpeerik3928 Till they fire you an you lose insurance benefits.. Dutch companies don't pay health insurance for their employees. Everyone is required to have one themselves mandatory by law. If your income is up to 20% above minimum or somewhere around government will give money so you can afford this is a grand/gift. The amount is based on your income, so you can always afford one. And they cover everything except for 360 euros ($390) own risk/year. (guess what happens if you can't afford that either you probably guessed right) It's really true, it's impossible to go broke on medical bills.

Most big multinational American companies do the right thing in foreign jurisdictions and I don't know for sure, but I think they also respect and value their workers and their morale a little bit better than the average company in the states. I know Chevron in Australia used to give all their office staff an extra day off each fortnight and its probably still the case. I got good vibes whenever I had to go to that place to do consulting work. I think employees love that mutual respect and it goes a long way.

Well they traditionally hire local legal counsel and/or local HR management because laws are a hugely national level issue. They would be conscious of these local regulations and prevent decisions like these being made. Perhaps they skimped, or they didn't care, or the manager involved didn't bother to run their decision by legal and thought they had the prerogative.

The biggest problem in us law is that it mostly is created for large compagnies. It is for a large reason, due becouse of the politacal systhem were so called donations are prevelent. Donators are not donating but buying political influance so legislation is mostly in there favor. That is why workes have very fewer rights than in europe. The average disposeble income in the usa is lower than in europe dispice lower taxes, but healthninsurance is much, much more expencive. No vakation days by law, etc. Minimum wages are below poverty lines. If you rent a place to live, you can get trown out verry easy In the netherlands renters have more rights and to get rid of a renter, the owner has to get trough court to be able to expell the renter. In general, people are better protected than compagnies wich results in fewer homeless people, less stress and happyer people. But also, when people are happyer and not have to fear for there job every second, they feel more commited to the compagnie and have a more healty work etic that also bennifits the compagnie. It is an investment in people and it pays its devident to healthy compagny's and a better balance in welfare and income.

In Australia it's quite common to make fun of our politicians. But there's one former Prime Minister who's name will really upset us "John Howard" too bad there's an Aussie Actor by the same name. During his one term in office he basically tried to and succeeded in stripping our workforce of some of our rights. It was called "Work Choices" and it allowed Employers to get away with behaving as badly as they do in America. Also like Donald Trump, he couldn't believe it when the people voted him out of office during the next election. We just plain wanted him gone. The next Prime Minister got rid of Work Choices. People came to view Johnny Howard as a Rich Entitled Brat, who hadn't a clue about real life or people.
