@@korinogaro the buyout of Skoda by VW happened only because they had patented a lot of stuff that was way ahead of most of the western Europe (5-10 years ahead, comparable with what Alfa Romeo pulled off). First thing that VW implemented after the acquisition was the chassis used in Skoda Octavia. They used it in the VW Golf series 4 (1997-2006). The VW group basically did the same thing that Microsoft does now - buys the smaller company, after the acquisition they use the patents the company owned and then utilizes it in another way, for example, as an experimental side of the bussiness (or in the worst case, it gets shut down, happened a lot around 90s-2000s both in Czechia and Slovakia).

@@Trozikr That was change of lights, not of the sound that is different from German of French one and to some extent similar to sounds used in USA. Te change of color scheme happened after some firefighters had installed the red covers on their fire engines as red light can be seen from greater distance during fog, rain and snowing. It has something to do with wavelength and dispersion of light. Basically same reason as why we see sunset as red, shorter wavelengths are either absorbed or dispersed and only red tones will get to us through ticker layer of air.

I stopped on the sidewalk to rest by sitting down and leaning against.a building, and they stopped to check up on me. @@reinhard8053 Yes, because in Czechia guns are not common and are more like a bonus for defense, you would mostly find close combat weapons like knives, boxers, telescopic batons (which can break arms and legs with not that much force) and finally, if you get into a fight in a bar, it is not that uncommon, someone will try to smash your head in with a glass bottle

@@reinhard8053 I don't know the individual rules/processes for all European police forces, but most of them issue the ammunition and officers need to account and justify every bullet they use. Once shorts are fired (especially if anyone is injured) most forces will immediatly begin an investigation (sometimes an oversight group, sometimes a criminal probe, depending on country) to determine if use of firearms was justified. Famously, in the UK police are not usually armed (they use specialist units), another example is Norway (I believe) where the weapon is carried in a safe in the back of the police car, and not habitually worn on their person. In many countries, if police fire their weapons it's often news that makes the front page, as it's that rare in most of Europe.

at 5:35 the "stake" is actually a handle with a rope that is attached the spike strip. It is used to pull the spike strip of the road after the hit, so that the chasing vehicles can continue the chase uninterrupted. Also the spike strip should be deployed just a few moments before the fleeting vehicle approaches your position but you run into a possibility of failing to correctly deploy the strip.

For the PIT introduction: It may not be the most frequently used move, but sometimes the conditions happen to be such it is the best thing you can do. So it is always better to have "that extra tool in the box" (push bar on the cars and mainly the officers training), even when not the most frequently used...
@cyberhopser4231
@cyberhopser4231 Жыл бұрын
Unless of course that "tool in the box" is illegal because it's way too dangerous to ram a fleeing car and cause it to spin uncontrollably...
@QemeH
@QemeH Жыл бұрын
The PIT is unneccessarily dangerous for the suspect, the chasers AND the general public (both walking and driving) in almost all circumstances. And because EU police don't have to be afraid of everybody having a gun, they can use better techniques like the TPAC (tactical pursuit and containment) box shown in the video, where they suround the suspect car with 3 cars and co-ordinate a gradual slow-down of the entire box. Now, that is not to say that european cops never push a suspects car (they call it "tactical contact"), but they won't spin somebody out at high speeds because of the danger to life and limb. They rather use it to prevent slow speed turn-arounds or to pin a car in.

@@QemeH Czechia has some of the highest gun ownership rates in Europe and a LOT of pistols, as self defense is a legitimate reason by default, so that's not a factor. More ultra wide roads with grade separation is the main reason you see pitting fairly often in the US.
@QemeH
@QemeH Жыл бұрын
@@alexandruianu8432 Czechia, while indeed leading in gun ownership in europe, still has only 12.5 guns per 100 citizens - the US has 120 (yes, more guns than people!). But I agree, it's not only about the sheer and absurd number of guns in the US, it is mainly about the very relaxed gun _control_ in the states. If your gun is stolen in Czechia you might be liable for what the thief does with it if you didn't store it properly or if you don't report the theft in a timely manner - you also have to give an ID when pruchasing a firearm, etc. So... yes, guns are _absolutely_ a major factor in the choice of intervention techniques. The british roads policing units are even on the record stating as much to the media. When asked why they don't use the american PIT maneuver often, they said that they had more effective and less impactful techniques they could employ because they weren't afraid to put a cruiser in front of or beside a suspects car.
@alexandruianu8432
@alexandruianu8432 Жыл бұрын
@@QemeH I don't really care what the UK police THINK is a reason they DON'T need to do pitting. Anyone can use any reason to justify not doing something, even if it has nothing to do with why someone else does that something. I care more for the reason why the US police DO pit more than just occasionally (i.e. what they say the main reasons are, and if inherited practice is a factor). Wide highways enable it, and historical reluctance (or inability) to go in front of the car could be enough of a reason, regardless of the present situation.

At least in Germany common police cars definitely aren't specially reinforced, they are just normal production cars. They even went from a white base color to metallic silver 15 or so years ago (with the police blue, signage etc. being applied as removable decals instead of painted on) to increase the resale value (AFAIK most police cars in Germany are leased from the manufacturer, not bought, and switching to a base color more common in civilian cars was part of the deal).

It is europe, you don't 100% know if they are armed but statistically you do know 😅 the policemen obviously have to be aware that this is a potential threat but there is way less anxiety and nervousness involved which in general results in way less pressure and fear for the policemen and women. That again results in way less tension in general and reduces the amount of bad calls to make use of their weapons falsly

The car with blown tires is Škoda Superb, and chased one Alfa Romeo 156, 159 or 166. Ones when was a kid was chased by traffic police, passed through policeman ordered to stop unnoticeable so next patrol started chase for about few hundred metres. And ones was convoyed by police: entered a town late at night and on checkpoint police agreed to convoy to a hotel (no syrens but with lights, because it was about 2a.m.)

German police in a car chase is not allowed to ram/spin the car off the street like they often do in the US because this most likely leads to serious injuries or even death. There are three main reasons: 1) they don’t know who is driving, it could be a child who is not legally responsible for it’s actions until they are 14 years old. 2) the proportionality is not given when e.g. a car thief is crashed to death in the pursuit 3) a general policing rule is, that someone fleeing from the police does not want to harm them which is also why they can’t shoot a fleeing suspect, whereas in the US the guns are immediately drawn as soon as a suspect runs away.

A few years I got robbed in Prague waiting for a night buss. I went to shoot some analog photos just with my camera over the shoulder. Then a friend called me he haid spare cinema tickets for that evening and asked me if i wanted to go. I did and didn't realise I would be going home late with my camera visible. Three intoxicated guys came to me, punch me in the face, took the camera and ran. I immediately called the police and they came in about three minutes. They got me into one of the cars and we drve around as we knew they couldn't have gotten far. We drove in the city with lights blazing reaching over 170 kmph (about 110mph). It was actualy almost scarier than the robbery itself...

In western Europe drugs dealers have there own tactics to provide big platform cities for distribution like Marseille, Paris or Amsterdam. It’s called "go fast". They import by the sea from Morroco to south of Spain which is very close by the giblatar detroi. They go on highway as fast as thy can with three very fast big cars like Audi RS6. The first is the opening car only for diversion, the second has durgs, the third is a background for the second car.

The text at 7:37 says: They exited the car and were running away. The patrol started a pursue but unfortunately lost the sight of them in a difficult terrain and wasn't able to find them in steep hills and crags. To aid the manhunt a police helicopter was called up. Neither the helicopter was successful, unfortunatelly. The second part at 7:39 says: The manhunt was succesfully ended on Saturdays' evening in Teplice nad Metují (a city). With the aid of the helicopter two men hiding in forest were found, one of them had knives and brass knucles with him.

Hi, Czech person here, once I was just driving, going on about my day on a road similar to the one at 10:40, the only difference being it was a very long turn and suddenly a police car with sirens on emerged from behind a truck from the opposite direction. I was going maybe 90 km/h, the police car even faster as it was probably chasing some other car and I luckily managed to steer my car into the side lane and not be crashed into but my heart was beating like crazy for the next few kilometers. Hard to hear sirens at such speeds when going opposite directions plus you can't even see the lights in the turn. I admire their bravery to drive like that but if I had been late for half a second, we would all be gone. Sorry for the random rant, got reminded of it as I came across this video. It kinda warms my heart that you appreciate the Czech police so much because they don't always have the best reputation around here haha

I was running from Police once. The reason was alcohol. I wasn't completelly drunk or something but I knew I might be slightly above legal limit which in Poland is ridicously low as 0.02%. Well... of course it wasn't some wild police chase. I just saw Police on the shoulder ahead of me so I turned back. Unfortunatelly they saw it and started chasing me. I speed up because I knew that less than 1km ahead there will be a slight curve and then turn. If I turn there before they reach that curve they won't see me turning and this way I may escape. However once I passed the curve they were still seeing me so I pulled over because I knew there's no chance to escape. My only chance was just lost. Turnes out that I actually was above legal limit - 0.06% to be exact and lost my driving license for 1 year. At least they didn't charged me for trying to escape. To all haters around there - the legal limit in US is 0.08%. And to my defend - I wasn't suppose to drive this morning at all but boss called my wife at 6:00 AM and told her that someone got sick and she has to go to work. It was Saturday. I didn't had breath analyzer back than so I didn't really knew if I have any alco in my system or not. I could only speculate. Felt fine but you never know. 1 year later - after getting back my DL my first car trip was to buy breath analyzer 🤣 Now - every time I was drinking the previous day I'm always testing myself before I get into the car. If that year earlier I had a breath analyzer I would probably checked myself and told my wife "call a cab - I can't drive yet".
