A teacher of mine once rescued a seagull chick that had fallen from its nest on the roof of my primary school. He climbed up on the roof and put the chick back in, and the parents must have thought he was attacking the nest or something because for the rest of his teaching career, he could not go outside without an umbrella because the gulls would dive bomb him constantly. It literally got so bad he stopped being able to help out with sports days, or supervise the kids while they were outside or anything. It went on for years, literally generations of gulls taught by their parents to attack this one teacher anytime they saw him. It was crazy 😅
@pauldurkee4764 Жыл бұрын
JT, you have to understand british gulls are very skillful and have a serious attitude. A colleague of mine going to voluntary work one morning, she was late and bought a bacon roll on the way, walked outside and was just about to take a bite and whoosh, the gull snatched the entire roll. 😂

One once stole my sisters sausage roll out of her hand, she was only about 6/7 at the time and was completely devastated. Another one stole the end of the ice cream cone out of my Auntie’s hand that she had pushed the flake of her 99 to the bottom, she was gutted too. 😂
@aimeeanita7302 Жыл бұрын
😂😂 Theyre honestly no joke. The gulls literally harrassed our break and lunchtime to the point the school had to try to avoid this by moving lunchtimes, except the feckers kept learning our new times. Resulted in a different lunchtime for each day of the weeek and a bell ten minutes before the last bell to basically tell you to grab the remainder of your food and leg it inside. These things are elite at even time management if it means they have a chance to swoop and take the food out your mouth. This specific area of Bristol the gulls were known to be savage. If your not from England you can't possibly understand their skills and adaptability😂

I've lived the majority of my life (37 out of 42 years) on the coast in East Sussex and I can say that Gulls swooping down and taking food is just something you have to learn to live with. They may seem like a pest and a nuisance but you have to remember that WE basically taught them to eat our food. People throwing chips for them on the seafront, tourists dropping food as they walk along the beach, etc. It's no wonder they act like they do. The Gulls are actually very intelligent and resourceful creatures and deserve a bit more respect.

As for the horse, particularly on our yard in the UK,we never get on a horse from the ground, qe always use a half barrel or steps about half the height of the horse. Getting on from the ground, particularly if you're heavy built will pull the horses spine and cause damage. Myself being around 180lbs or so, I use the top step so I just pop my leg over, no heaving myself on. Edit: as for reduced food, its reduced because its going off.

11:02 Yeah, I think it's when food items are approaching their sell-by date or if they are damaged in some way but can still be sold, supermarkets reduce the price so that they'll sell and therefore waste less. They, of course, can't sell food items after their sell-by date, so it's a tactic to encourage customers to buy it.

Mounting horses isn't always easy. I think the one I regretted the most was they ad a 4 yo thoroughbred x shire that I got to ride. Standing 17.3 hh, which is about 5'11" at the withers, somehow as a skinny 5'3" teen I managed to get on from the ground. I kind of pulled several muscles doing so and have vowed to use a block or some other aid for anything over 16hh. Fun fact; the tallest horse I've ridden is another shire x called Tiny, who stood at 18.2hh (6'2" ) at the withers. I never ever tried to mount him from the ground, even some of the most experienced and tall riders couldn't mount him from the ground.
@Kat-mu8wq Жыл бұрын
I only ever use mounting blocks to get on my horses, as I'm larger built, I'd rather not rip their spine to the left. The biggest horse I ever buy is 15.2hh. I'm 5'1 so have absolutely no need for a larger horse, hence why we sold our ex racer 16hh even though he was lovely, no need for a big horse.

I hear and sometimes see Gulls morning and evening fly over/past my house on the way to the local refuse site. I live 30miles from the nearest coast. Where they roost at night I have no idea. Despite their name seagulls do seem to be quite partial to life inland and can be spotted in great numbers pretty much everywhere. City squares, high rise buildings, fields and even school yards are places where it is not unlikely to spot a seagull - and in towns and cities that are nowhere near to the sea.

"A MUM-OF-THREE had the shock of her life when she saw Spider Man flying towards her CCTV camera. But luckily it was just a big balloon and not the real deal attending to some danger outside her home. Kelly Hudson purchased the balloon for her son Brandon’s 21st birthday. And while her back was turned, Spider Man made a break for it. The famous superhero was next seen by the family headbutting their CCTV cameras. He floated down the road and bounced off the ground before making a B-line for the camera. Son Brandon, who has Downs Syndrome, is chuffed that Spider Man left their home to save the world. Kelly, of Newton Aycliffe, Durham said: “Brandon has Downs Syndrome and avengers is his life! “The back door was left open because of the heat and I wondered where the balloon had gone. “While checking the CCTV, we couldn’t believe our eyes how he went over the fence and took off. “Brandon thought it was hilarious and honestly thinks Spider Man has gone to save the world.” The balloon is hilariously in Spider Man’s famous crouch position. Kelly has no idea where the balloon has floated off to but is happy that Brandon thinks he is off saving the world."

JT has almost reached Nelson. David Robert Shepherd fans will know that reference. For those not in the know. He was a cricket umpire. Perhaps his most famous quirk was his habit of lifting one foot off the ground whenever the score reached 111, or multiples thereof, they being regarded as unlucky by Shepherd in a ritual dating back to his childhood cricket team days. The number 111 is known as the "Nelson", and is considered unlucky for the batsman. 🦗🏏🦗🏏🦗🏏

I was in Bristol a short while ago, happily about to tuck into burger and chips from a street vendor, I swivelled to the table behind me for some ketchup and there it was gone...the top of my bun and my burger flying off in the bright yellow beak of a gull.
