British have always had a cracking sense of humour. Back in WWII the Germans had a great plan to build a fake airfield out of wood, complete with planes etc....the Brits spotted it on a reconnaissance mission, waited 2 years for them to finish building it then dropped a wooden bomb on it! 😂

Everyone is on strike as inflation is around 10% and they are being offered around 5% pay rises (if that) but have already been on pay freezes for a good few years. Pay isn't the only issue, conditions have generally got worse as well, with for example the health service being understaffed.

@@Thurgosh_OG That and our economy is slowing because investment has been pulled out after the Brexit fuck up. Everyone is pretty much had enough with the Tory toffs who've been in government for over a decade, a decade of budget cuts to all kinds of services and that includes our health care. Which has been under strain years before the pandemic and nothing has been done after all the empty promises the Tory's have made. Did not like the NHS, pay is shit, working conditions are shit, bullying culture is normalised, so I left 🤷‍♀️ I would never ever have dreamt of walking out on my patients or colleagues, in fact my Union (RCN) forbade it at the time. But I don't know what they expected, we were supposed to come out and clap them in 2020, give them free cakes and pizza then leave then to deal with the fallout of closing down virtually all services for a year? Good luck with that 😂

The reason the Government's not on strike, is because it regularly awards itself a 14% rise - which also applies to MP's second home allowances, travel allowances, sustenance allowances and many other allowances that other workers don't get... This is in spite of the fact that they are elected by the public to serve the public - yet, reckon that they're not public servants, who were initially offered just 1.5%... Hence, most of the other public servants - local government officers, teachers, nurses, ambulance personnel, refuse collectors, cleaners, doctors, fire and rescue service personnel, train drivers and other railway staff, bus drivers, lavatory attendants and many others - are on strike, for a few days per month! The unions representing them say that the government isn't prepared to negotiate at all; yet inflation continues to be well above 10%, there's a cost of living crisis, people are having to go without food up and down the land in order to feed their children - and/or having to choose between food and heating their homes as energy prices are already over 150% higher than they were this time last year... In other words, everyone - except the government and the energy company shareholders; is being offered a substantial pay cut in real terms, while they alone have inflation busting rises! That's why everyone's on strike!
@evorock
@evorock Жыл бұрын
For us teachers, we are stricking because not only is the pay rise we have been offered about 5% below inflation, but the government want these pay rises to come out of (already stretched) school funds, instead of from the government coffers, where it should be. This means that the kids suffer as we are unable to buy essential equipment that we need, like books, paper, and (in my case) hydrochloric acid

Whether it's getting the lock on your car or your door unstuck or getting rid of the frost on your home window(just put it on with a clean cloth and keep it off the silicone/rubber/whatever at the edges), there's always WD40. @@1215298 Yes, they could afford it if it's budgeted and managed. However, when it's done via hedge fund managers and the financial world sector steps back and basically says fuck no, we're not investing anywhere near that scam anymore... as we saw, the pound falls to rock bottom and suddenly the cost of living goes through the roof, the banks have to step in to protect pensions etc because our money doesn't buy the same anymore. The market isn't stable anymore, interest rates are sky high, the government now has no room to budget or nor the ability borrow to fix problems. It's had real world implications when they played fuckery with the stock market using the state funds - more so when they're a new leader of a country, such as the UK, who have a vested interest in the financial market.
