1. Skis has been around for many many years, not just in Norway, so yeah vikings did ski. 2. Norwegian forest cats can become big, but they are smaller than maincoons, most of them aren't normally that big 3. Roar is a normal name in Norway, but it is not pronounced like the English word roar, like for example the "a" has a longer sound.☺

Roar is definitely a common Norwegian name, but it's spoken very differently than the English word (the Norwegian way to say Roar is "Roo-ar" - so with two syllables rather than one) The Norwegian name Odd, however is pronounced more similar to the English word (slight different vowel sound). I like to make the joke if someone named Odd was married to someone named Randi (female Norwegian name - not pronounced quite like the English Randy, but if a Norwegian was to speak English they might use the English pronounciation) and they had to introduce themselves to someone in English, lol. "Hi, I'm Odd, she's Randi" :P Names can be a funny thing internationally. You will always find normal names in one language that ends up having some kind of weird meaning in another language. I've learned that my first name is a hentai genre in Japan. I once had an Indian colleague whose name (spoken out loud) is the same as our word for "jealous" (it was probably spelled differently). And yes, speedbumps here are called "fartshumper" we sometimes also refer to them as "fartsdumper". There's a Norwegian race car driver who once famously said "It's not the fart that kills, it's the smell" (Fart = speed, Smell = bang)

In our history around year 1100, Birkerbeinere did save our baby king by skiing him from Trondheim to south Norway and did get him over to sweden. There are movies and books this historie.

Polar bears are not found in the wild on the mainland of Norway, but on the Svalbard islands, they can be found roaming around. Forest cats can get quite large, pretty close to the size of Maine Coons. Unlike the Maine Coon, they have a narrower face structure, and they usually have thicker and sleeker coats. There are a few subtle differences, but they are otherwise similar.

I have never heard about the penguin before either, and I am from Norway. The polarbear only exist in Svalbard. Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Located on top of the world, it contains endless areas of unspoilt, raw Arctic wilderness. About funny names....my dads name is Odd😜

Fun fact, Speed Bumps is the American English version of the British English Speed Humps, and "er" in Norwegian is often used to signify "Plural," just like the "s" in English is often used for the same thing. 14:44 In English you would probably pronounce it by combining the words "Row" and "Are" and removing the "w." I think that's the best combination that you could get for an accurate English pronunciation, as I don't think English has words that have speakers pronounce the letters the same way you would in Norwegian.

About the road: it is quit notmal in the north part of scandinavia you can accually se one of the rads getting opend for spring. Search for vildmarksvägen, sweden. The snowwalls after opening the road is about 6 m. It is exiting to see.

Visiting my norwegian family for christmas, all of our family went into their giant hottub 23 december in the evening with snow all around. It was great. Norwegian forest cats a very large.

The NFC's (cats) are very real. I have an NFC/housecat mix and she's huge. She looks mostly like a regular housecat but she has longer legs, longer and wider tail and she's 12 kg's at her heaviest, during mid-winter. A little above average even for the NFC's, never the less, her mother was one. She get's bushier over winter but still quite agile, which is typical for the race.

About the snowday ... yes I do remember it was worse before here in Norway, as a young child my town where hit by a bad blizzard for several days ... and when it was over it took 3 weeks to dig the town out of the snow to some kind of normality. But did we not go to school ? NOOO we had to go at school even while the blizzard was happening. I remember holding on to my mom as she was following me to the school (her job was next to the school anyway), as we walked on top of the snow the roads where closed with too much snow. in some houses people had to climb out of their second floor to get out of the house as first floor was snowed down. Been a while since we had that much snow .... hehe it was also back then pretty shady electric powerlines so they broke down quite often during winter, you just had to prepare for several days without electric power during winters.

The Ski meme is referencing the Birkebeiner historic event. Where the political party/rebels - Birkebeinere - fled on skies across the country to protect an usurper to the crown. The camera crew laugh their ass off and the contender asks 'Do I say something bad?' I would say 'Farts-d-umper'. Norwegian prisons may be nice, for prisons, but, if they're nicer than your apartment, you should probably do something about that. 7:19 Ah, yes! My old school road! I recognized it instantly, even though, in my time, it wasn't plowed, and getting a ride to school was out of the question. One time, my skis came loose, I sank through the snow, and was lost for two weeks, before I managed to tunnel my way home. I was never worried, though; like all sensible Norwegians, I had packed my rucksack for all eventualities, including being buried in snow for a fortnight. True story, and, if you believe it, I'll give you half price on a bridge I'm selling! Seriously, though, you can find roads like that in Norway, every winter; your best bet will be in the mountains, but anywhere with some elevation and distance from the coast holds promise. The only place in Norway where you stand a decent chance of successfully feeding your child to a polar bear, is on Svalbard. I don't want to recommend it, but, from what I hear, for some people, it might result in an upgrade in living conditions, so... If you have an outdoor hot tub at your mountain cabin ("hytte") in Norway, and a lot of Norwegians do, it's just a matter of time before you find yourself at 8:15. Well, if you like shoveling snow, really love hot baths, your s.o. won't stop nagging until you've cleared away the snow, or you're the s.o. that wouldn't stop nagging. Beware, though: divorce is always an option. "Trump's hair" is a photo of weeds in the shoreline near Tromsø, taken in winter, at low tide, when the weed is dead and dry. Basically, it looks like Trump's hair, but is actually more like Biden; Trump is a lot of things, but 'dry' isn't one of them. The Norwegian air force (11:12) mostly uses F-35s, which are somewhat bigger than the planes in the picture, but also less elegant. Weirdly, though, the picture probably is from pilot training, either for formation flying or for basic maneuvers. Running around gives a better spatial awareness than a simulator, is cheaper than both simulator time and air time, and is a shitload safer than putting a trainee in a $400 billion plane. It also allows face-to-face communication, time out for talking (can't spend simulator time on that), and exclusive focus on the movement of the plane (rather than technical procedures). Not to mention, it's much better cardio than pretty much anything else, short only of human powered flight. The silly little plane is needed to indicate the position and angle of the plane in the maneuvers, and must be large enough that the "pilot" views it from "inside", for proper visualization of the maneuvers. I don't know this because I'm a fighter pilot; I know it because I'm interested in military history, and, believe it or not, military pilots have been running around like that since WWI. Damn! My cat barely weighs in at 8 kg (17.5 lb)! That beast has to be at least twice that! Even accounting for some photo manipulation and a lot of hair, it's definitely a big cat. From the angle, it's hard to tell if it's the face of a Maine coon or a Norwegian forest cat. While Norwegian forest cats can get large (mine is a _skinny_ 8 kg), Maine coons are generally bigger, with some being outright gigantic. My money is on that being a mislabeled Maine coon, which is an American breed. Both are natural breeds, i.e. arose without being deliberately bred by humans, are adapted to cold climate, and they're speculated to be related. "Fartshumper" consists of two words, with two inflections; 'fart' means speed, '-s' makes it "related to speed", 'hump' means mound/bump (which is also one of the meanings of 'hump' in English), and '-er' makes it plural. "Speed hump" is used in English, but is generally avoided in emotionally immature regions. The name _Roar_ is a contraction of _Rodgeir,_ and is from Old Norse _hroðr geirr,_ which means "praised spear". It's cognate with the English name _Roger._ I'm not going to try to describe the pronunciation, because I'd rather slam my head into a brick wall than explain the Norwegian o-sound to an American. The fact is, there are English words with both the æ-, ø-, and å-sound, but none with the Norwegian o-sound. The skier in the picture is a Birkebeiner. The Birkebeiners were one of the parties in a civil war in the 12th century, and were known for their very successful utilization of skiing as military transportation. Most famously, two Birkebeiners transported the two year old Haakon Haakonsson, later to be king, across the Norwegian mountains, midwinter, during a blizzard, while under pursuit from the opposing faction.

There are Norwegian Forest cats, bigger than "ordinary" cats, but the one here, is most likely a HUGE american cat Maine Coon. The forest cat is about 2/3 of the size of a MC. What's special w the NFC, is it can climb head down a tree, and their ability to survive the harsh climate. Sir Nils Olav 😂😂 forgot about him... my oldest brother's name as well, and also senior to Sir Penguin. Polar Bears are just to be found on SpitsBergen (78 degrees North), NOT on Norwegian Main Land.

It makes perfect sense to me that Norway has a penguin who s a Brigadier. We are after all one of the powers of Antarctica, which is ruled by penguins. We need someone to control those people.
