The gangs operate from prison. If you want to 'fix' the gang problem, get rid of the gangs in prison. Keep moving inmates around, remove their method of communication and organizing, and offer them lifestyle alternatives in jail. Create a 'safe-zone' in Mannenberg and similar, patrolled by local neighbourhood watches supported by police 24/7, where kids can play. Invest in community workshops for things to do other than drugs and gangs, and promote a sense of belonging by recruiting the youngsters into community projects. We have the money, and the will, but the problem is the prisons.
@mogamatyusufmartin9171Ай бұрын
True that is part of the problem here is the connections the prison Gangs have to the street gangs in our areas

Its strange and also true that it could be 17 murders a day. The sad thing is its only fixed in a few neighbourhoods. Lavender hill, Vrygrond, Joe Slovo, Dunoon, Khayelitsha, Lotus River, Bouenthewuel, Manenberg and a few others. The crazy thing is these are all places that have been neglected and even law enforcement doesnt enter at night. I am blessed to be in Plattekloof, and to be honest I havent seen or heard a gunshot in 2 years. But 5km from me is Joe Slovo, and it can happen in an instant.
@obsessed_anglerАй бұрын
17 Murders a day, only in those areas. The daily murder rate in S.A is about 60 per day, that's not into taking into consideration GBH, common Assault, Hijacking , Home- invasion, and on top of that, majority of muggings and stabbings don't get reported

Through many tough circumstances in my life I was exposed as a white youth to much of this lifestyle. A white youth living in many of these gang-infested neighbourhoods. Drugs are a major issue, alcoholism is also huge. I have never feared for my life as much as I have ever done during the years that I lived in the Cape Flats, but with that being said there are many inspirational people living in these areas that were a major contribution to me pulling my life together and living a more successful life outside of the city.

@obsessed_angler so if you have traveled the world, that means you have money you have not seen what I have seen go to the poor areas you will see I have been with the church feeding the homeless giving out beds donated by people so yes what makes a 3rd world country is high unemployment rates slow to no development of infrastructure etc that's is what we have the government couldn't even take care of the grid they sold all the spares for the power grid and water I bet you are wondering how I know all this well one of my dad's friends used to work for rand water so did a friend of my neighbor also a good family friend the stories are leaked there and plus the signs were in the news how they would get someone to put a hole into one of the generators so all the oil would spill out still facts are facts either you are rich or you just make it every month and have to cut costs where you can and if you can afford to go to other countries to travel the world then you have money and another example look at the cape flats those people have it very nice hey not that they killing one another because they are rich yes other countries also have it bad but until you go out of your happy nice cozy home into the poor people's places you can also see so yes we still a 3rd world shithole where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer we just don't have that crap of boys thinking they are girls etc like 1st world countries do the bunch of knuckleheads I swear if yhey do come here which I know they won't they will get wrecked and or possibly even die but the rich people of SA would probably welcome them
