They were stars as children in Norway. But Norwegians still think of them as children, so they're not as popular in Norway in 2024. That's why they're huge in Sweden. Their management is Swedish, and that's why they represented the country in the ESC this year. They've actually said that Norway doesn't appreciate them as artists

It can be difficult for former child stars to break free from that stigma when they grow up. It was precisely to break with that image that they chose to focus on Sweden, to which they have a close connection like so many other Norwegians. Sweden is our closest holiday country. Sweden is also known for producing pop music for artists from all over the world, so you know you're getting quality. I think everyone here in Norway has now realized that Marcus & Martinus are adult artists, and that the time as child stars is over.

We don't really view sexuality in general as x rated unless it becomes too graphical and technical, and we do not differ between gay and straigh - in that reguard. We do reacto to beauty pageans for kids, and even more so when they have clothes and makeup like an adult. As for Norwegian music you will have heard several - but maybe though they were American. Singing in Norwegian - and in this case dialect even for the kids, is not extremely common in Norway. Most sing in English.

In Scandinavia you tend to have lovesongs from kids when they're 7-8 or so. And 12 is the age when they start mucking about and sleep over and have adventures and all that. So it makes sense to have songs about girls and what they experience and all that.

I remember those two boys coming to visit a special support place for kids with parents who have/had parents with cancer. That day I might have been the oldest kid there. I remember my younger siblings and the other kids were so happy when Marcus and Martinus walked in. I personally felt awkward the whole time, of course I know who they were. I remember watching Junior MGP when they first appeared. But they were still strangers, and also just some random kids. It's a memory I can think of fondly, just the joy on my sibling's faces. I don't think this was ever filmed or documented, so it was just two kids a year or two younger than me wanting to brighten some other kids' day. I do hope they kept the want they had back then to use their fame to make some people smile. I don't expect them to go out of their way like that, but I hope the years did not stifle the hearts they showed back then.

They started in 2012 when they won MGP JR with their first song To dråper vann, when they were 10. Then they continue doing music until 2015 when they released their album “hei” and become MORE famous with Elektrisk (Elektrisk is ok the album), they were13 there(they used to play in some festival and events in Norway before Elektrisk became a hit). Nowadays Elektrisk is the most streamed norwegian song EVER. Then they kept releasing music and also a book soon. Actually today 1 of september its Mmers (their fans name) day bc its the anniversary of MGP JR

Hi im Swdedish and born 2007, i remember in 2 grade when i was like 8 that every girl in my school listened to them, i have so man memories of the girls singing to elektrisk together on the swing and i had One friend who had Marcus and martinus clothes and all her scoolmaterial had their faces on it haha, they are still very popular, i saw the in August this year performing at ”Rix FM festival” wich is the biggest free festival in Sweden, i also saw them August last year when the performed at that very same festival and all girls where screaming their lungs out. HAHA so all their fans are now teenage girls (the fans from 2015) and they are still very active. I think you should react to their songs ”air” and ”unforgettable”

Marcus and Martinus is really popular amongst kids, yeah. Like 12-14 year olds love them, which I think is great. Also we play some of their songs in daycare a lot as well where I work. If you want tips for other Norwegian artists that sing in Norwegian (there is a TON of Norwegian artists that sing in English that is really good, like Aurora. But In Norwegian there is a few) Sirkus Eliassen - On of my personal favorites for parties. TIX - Earlier music was very party, has a few more serious songs later. Is also honestly pretty good D.D.E - Make a lot of different music, they are popular in a wide age range, from teens up to my moms age, been around for YEARS Ketil Stokkan/Zoo - He was in Eurovision 1986 with the song Romeo, He makes way less party music than the people above mentioned. Hellbillies - Also an old time favorite with many age ranges, often grouped together with DDE Vidar Villa - Party music Admiral P - Rap Kurt Nilsen - Won Idol (a music talent show) some years back, makes both Norwegian and English songs Sandra Lyng - Also won Idol, one of the few female artists I can think of that sing in Norwegian instead of English As a fun bonus: Anders Nilsen with Salsa Tequila - this song is what happens when a Norwegian who does not speak Spanish makes a party song meant to sound Spanish but is mostly just nonsense.

The comparison to Justin Bieber is spot on - they were at their "prime" at the same time as him here in Norway. M&M merch everywhere you could look. I would say that they are still known/popular, and now more focused on growing their fanbase outside of Norway, hence why they competed in Meldoifestivalen twice to represent them in Eurovision. They also work and partially live in Sweden and working with producers there on their music now. Elektrisk is their #1 hit, but their newer songs like the Eurovision song might be more representative for today

Fun fact, they are about to go on a European tour in October this year, and they’re having concerts the whole March 2025 and concerts in Warsaw, Hamburg, Brussels, Amsterdam, Zurich and Budapest is sold out. 20 000 tickets has been sold this far🎉 and they represented Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest because their record label and studio is placed in Stockholm so they are much more in Sweden than in Norway, and they don’t feel appreciated as singers in Norway that much anymore as they do here in Sweden, also they won the Swedish masked singer so they felt it was the perfect opportunity to compete in the Swedish Melodifestivalen as well, they came 2nd place last year because Loreen competed as well (no one can beat the queen of music), but this year they won with the song Unforgettable, and they represented Sweden in ESC, but it was a hard competition since it’s pretty rare that the same country wins 2 times in a row but they came 9th place, which is good to be in Eurovision🤷‍♀️ (I’ll never forget their faces when they heard the results of the vote points :(( we voted our a$$es of 😕.) BUT they have been touring in Sweden all summer and now Europe is finally waiting for them🥹

Elektrisk is the most legendary, iconic song in the MM fandom, it’s where the whole thing started, or actually «To Dråper Vann» was their very first song that made them realize “this is what we want to do”, and after they made Elektrisk, Martinus did not want to release it, he didn’t think it was any good and he was like “no, we won’t come anywhere with this song, let’s try something else”, but releasing that song really proves Martinus wrong, their whole career kicked off so fast and yeah. If you want to know more about them, they made this movie called «Sammen on drømmen» and you get to join their journey from the very beginning. You can watch it KZbin for free if you just search for it but they speak Norwegian in the movie and that video that you can watch for feee on KZbin doesn’t have English subtitles, so you can watch it on Apple TV+ but you need to pay.

I'm from Norway, and I've been a fan of Marcus and Martinus. but when I was a fan of them I was a child. then I'm not a fan of them anymore, because now I'm really grown up, and I have other artists I listen to more. and the song you were listening to that was electric (elektrisk) was a Norwegian song, which was on their last Norwegian record, before they switched to singing in English. and they are still quite popular in Norway, there are still many people who love them. Marcus and Martinus changed their record company from a Norwegian to a Swedish one, because in Norway we saw them more as child stars, and not as the adults they have become, so that is also why they represented Sweden in Eurovision, is because they are under one Swedish record company

People love to hate on them and tho I’m not a fan, they are good singers. Some of their music is quite catchy yes. I hate their dialect tho. Their younger sister is also a singer. And you forget. This is Norway, not America. We actually have sex ed in school, and boys/girls can have friends of the opposite sex as well as visit each other without that being a big deal. Or let alone hang out and talk unsupervised which seems to be the totally opposite in the US due to religious brainwash. Never understood that with the US. Kids here even have. a bf or gf when in kindergarten, and they also claim they are married, and the next they are divorced🤣🤣🤣 It’s no big deal.

I hope you take a look at my fav band Kaizers Orchestra, more for "our generation" (i just assume youre around my age, from before the 2000, haha). They sing in my Norwegian western dialect, which is different from many other Norwegian bands which is more Oslo-ish. Their most pop'y song is probably Hjerteknuser - Hope you love it!

They particpated on eurovision (biggest song contest in the world) representing sweden (they are norwegian but bc of their team and more stuff they participated with sweden) and their song is the one of most popular of eurovision, Unforgettable, have a look. Also some songs on their album called the same (Unforgettable) are REALLY good, like When all the lights go out.

Sweden are verry mutch used writers/ composers of musik, so last year I belive that 3 tre diferent contrys songs where composed buy Sweeds, while Sweden closed to go with a Norwegian grope snd composers. In the 60’s Sandy Shaw one year enterd the runner upp both in France and England, lost the national in England, won in France, so ended upp representing France in EUSQ, one or two years later she represented England.
