Its the calvinist-protestant culture of the US. All is in order. All is without showing feellings, all is rationalized, all is only for winners that cannot love a team because they are too individualistic for those things. Come to an orthodox country and imposse that.
@baltimorebjj3 жыл бұрын
Not really. USA is a big diverse place with people who act differently but usually respect others rights to do so. NBA games are marketed as safe entertainment for all types of people. A big group chanting in unison doesn't have the same mass appeal, and will serve to alienate fans, and lower revenue. This type of behavior is more similar to how people cheer for college sports in the US, which have big blocks of young people cheering in them. And the college games are probably skill wise on a similar level to what you see here.
@maximilianoandrade61143 жыл бұрын
@@baltimorebjj My humble response: 1-Of course US is a big and diverse country with diverse cultures. And of course, it's good that one respect each other as of from outside one must respect american culture (this comments are in tone of joke, not to take serious. It's not a war against America). 2-What people are saying in comments is that there are notorius differences between massive spectacles in America and Europe (I would say South America, but in South America is only football). In America, 'holliganism' or even loudest crowds like that are absolutelly absent (in some point, WWE Attitude Era was near). Some of us find that pretty boring, specially the cheerleaders. All comercial, all individualistic, nothing of passion (Im talking about stereotypes, prejudices, you know, but in friendly tone, it's not a hate speech!). Love for money, not for your club. All of latter does not mean that we get mad for your public in massive events. At least, I respect it. It's a different choice, and in fact, NBA is interesting to see, even when Im not a basketball fan. 3-With the number of people that have a gun, it's better that America doesnt have passionate fans as football ones (think about it, just imagine holliganism in the US when all people have guns) 4-There are people that say that if you didnt like football (from which those kind of fans and overall atmosphere came from) when you were a child, you cannot understand the game spirit, which by far is more than money or comercial things. It's a religion (for me, my football team is more important than love or than Christ, if someone thinks that Im exagerating, only think about his football team at one match to be relegated to second division, as mine now). Anyway, money in Europe and South America came from TV, not by tickets from stadiums (in effect, those fans alienate people, I lived in front of the two main football stadiums in Chile and when the two main clubs plays a match, actually you can even leave home, not saying to dare to take public transport, that ends always stoned by fans) Im sorry for the extension and bad english, but conceding that you have reasson, Im only wish to remark (or explain) some points.

Two main reasons of fans of Aris BC being so supportive is they are so proud of their team since they are the most historic basketball club of Greece with one of the greatest European basketball legends of all time, the HOF Nick Galis and the second is their great rivalry with the local team PAOK of Thessaloniki. Most chants are... loving words to PAOK.

I live in Greece and I have attended games like these. The atmosphere is electrifying. It's not for everyone. Families don't attend, besides the flares and the chants there is very very foul language. All these teams have organized fans where they live for their teams. In Greece and in Europe the home teams have a greater advantage because of the atmosphere. And another thing opposing fans don't attend because riots start, fights, stabbings, even shootings. Opposing teams are scared and they don't perform as well. The same fans attend the football games and other sports. Every club has teams in every sport, soccer, basketball, volleyball, water polo, handball, etc. But the atmosphere is usually in big games, not that much in small ones.

In Europe there are what we call “sports collectives”. So every professional sports organization has a pro team for practically every sport. So you’ll see Real Madrid have a soccer team, a basketball team, a handball team, etc. So the fans are the same ones. The same people who go to the soccer games come to basketball games with the same mentality. That’s why the atmosphere at a European sporting event is always gonna crush silly Americans their DEFENCE DEFENCE chants.

Europe is so raw because they experienced the devastation of the first and second world wars first hand and behind that is thousands of years of conflicts. Americans may have experienced the two world wars but it never came to their land. Countries in europe were virtually destroyed less than a generation ago and conflicts like the third Balkan war only ended in 2001, less than 20 years ago. This is why there is so much passion, they live for the moment because they know it is precious.

I dont think it has anything to do with that , I think its more cultural , americans just dont have the same passion for a team ..... also most of those european basketball teams are also football teams , so the fans bring the same football atmosphere to the basketball arena

Just 1 thing... Do fans in USA fight after the game for there team... They dont know what love is...

It's partially correct, in Europe the rivalry between city (teams) is what remains of Middle age and rennaissance constant warfare, and sport is a surrogate of war nowadays. Think about what means Celtic Glasgow vs Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, catholics vs protestants. Or St. Pauli vs Hamburg SV, far left vs middle class. Religion, politics, in the balkans even ethnicity. This is why there is so much passion
@phtito98774 жыл бұрын
@@matteoferrarizanolini6724 ... it has nothing to do with warfare , just human passion ... here in brazil we had no middle ages warfare , and have the same atmosphere .... if it had anything to do with warfare , then the americans would be the most energetic fans since they are the country involved in most wars in the last 100 years , ... its human passion and cultural differences plain and simple

i love the atmosphere more in the us there people can actualy sit next to the court wil in europe by most sports there are walls and fences between the players and the fans other wise fights will break out

Theres just the big difference: In USA you think when it finally ends, to let start the game, in Europe, at some teams, you want it to never end Well...that Maryland thing was amazing, I give it to them XD

It’s passion. There is no organisation at European games. If anything it was too organised and diluted and homogeneous at the American games. You don’t need the national anthem unless it’s Usa playing another country. Yet they play the anthem at even school games. That’s not pride that’s narcissistic behaviour. Usa IS a library in all their sports. They sing only when the tannoy plays a tune. European fans make their own noise and don’t need prompting by a man on a speaker. We go not caring about food and drink and comfortable chairs

"Europe is slowly climbing into that same hemisphere of basketball just moving into the next level." "There is a huge skill differential". Meanwhile the USA is just buying quality with insane amounts of money and have their own "world championship". You guy know nothing about basketball. It's just mind-blowing how us citizens live in their own protected bubble. I really doubt that people from the USA know more about the world than citizens from North Korea. You have to remind yourself that USA still isn't the holder of the most won World Championships.

Americans know nothing about the world, clueless people who have no idea what sport is about. In Europe we have Clubs and Fans and sport is about allegiance and honouring the badge and the colours, in America they have entertainment institutions and their customers and sport is about creating an excuse for running all sorts of commercial activities. Who the hell turns up to a game to watch a concert during halftime or to see people dancing, for crying out loud?
@cjrouse95083 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? If it is basketball you are talking about we have won gold on 15 out of 18 Olympic basketball tournaments for the men and 8 out of 10 on the female side.. we dominate in the Olympics while only sending our amateurs.

in europe most of the big sports clubs have same supporters thats why the atmosphere is like that , if you support a football club you gonna support the baskeball or other sports too. and on big games most of the ultras and the football fans go support their club
@israteeg7524 жыл бұрын
In Europe there are concepts such as Derby or Classico which every European fully understandes their true meaning w\o any further explanations. But for all you Americans out there , it's about inner city rivalries or club rivalries with long histories of beef and therefore are very intense. In addition, unlike in the U.S , in Europe many of the same clubs have teams in various sports. For instance, the Greek rivalry between Olympiacos vs Panathinaikos could include the same group of fans coming to various areans in Soccer, Basketball , or even Volyball and Handball. So unlike your avarage U.S Sports event, you can all clearly see in this video that sports fans in Europe don't need encouragement to create electrifying atmosphere in the stands .

The reason for this.... in America you expect some type of A list celebrity to be there, yes the games are accessible to the general public but some of the better seats are priced were only the wealthy can afford. In other countries is completely different.

Europe fans are never about the players, they are always only for the club. This is about intimidating the opponent, this is love for the club. This is passion.
