I'm very jealous of both cooks! Frying is the one type of cooking I haven't done much, and I'm just notcomfortable with it. I suppose it's better for my waistline, though. Also, Beryl is hilarious! I love her in this job!

Great series! My absolute favorite fried food is fried green tomatoes. I'm from Texas and have cousins in Milwaukee and Melbourne, Australia. I had the chance to make fgt for them and the huge platter was totally devoured 😅

My favorite fried food dish is actually a "dominicanized" version of kubbeh! We call them quipes, and they come from Lebanese inmigrants that moved to the DR in the 19th century. In the DR, the bulgur wheat dough has ground beef mixed into it and the inside beef mince has raisins :)

Ah, that's interesting - "quipes" is most likely from the Lebanese name for this dish - kibbeh - plus the Spanish -s plural prefix, e.g., Leb. kibbeh > Sp. quipe ['ki.pe] + -s (pl.) = quipes.

I hope this show will return, it's so wholesome! My favourite fried food is oliebollen, also known as Dutch donuts. They're fried doughballs with raisins and lots of powdered sugar on top! Since they're mostly eaten during new years eve and carnivals, they always remind me of good times and bright lights 😊

My dad used to make the best kubbeh, he used to use matza flower for the dou and chop the meat. We used to cut it open when it came out from the frayed and squeeze lemon in it. It was soooooo good
