but I know that feelings. Happens to me to when I'm in between learning languages. I was driving my bike in hungary and trying to use the few hungarian phrases you learn in advance for those trips (like yes, no, pleas, thanks, my name is ..., I don't speak hungarian, and so on) And 'Si' is just what my brain defaults to if everything else suddenly stops working. Sometimes even when I am in germany but have just seen a movie in english or read something in english ... for whatever reason I default to si.

So maybe a little tip for you if you order for your friends again: Have them write their order down for you and you have to order it at the counter. First they should write it down in german, so you would just have to practice the tongue itself, then, when you're comfortable with the words themselves, they should write their order down in english and you have to translate it into german directly at the counter. I think this would be a bit easier on learning the actual language. The way you do it now is more a memory trainning - which isn't bad, but it's less learning the language than remember what your friends said to you.

In "Everything's good for now" the "for now" would usually be translated to "erstmal" (so something like "for the first time" as in when you'd continue, you are going to add more like a second or third aspect). So you'd probably say "Das ist erstmal gut" or "Das reicht erstmal" ("It's good for now" or "It's enough for now"). But you're getting so good at German, that those are only details and it's really entertaining watching you learn our language 😂🙆

First of all I love your videos Connor! You spread so much positivity and you motivate people to get out of their comfort zone to achieve whatever they want to achieve. And it's true what you say. Before I came to the states I thought my English was already pretty good but when I arrived here and I actually had to talk to people I got sooo nervous and forgot about the simplest words. I was forced though to go out there and that helped me a lot improving my English. Also, for one month of living in Germany and without taking any classes you're doing pretty good! Keep it up and you'll get better with every day. Please keep uploading videos, cause you make me smile and you kinda make me miss Germany (which is not a bad thing haha). I think it would be helpful to attend a german class once or twice a week to learn more vocabulary and grammar (how to build sentences etc.) at least for the beginning to get an understanding of the concept of the Language On the side you could still practice your real life situations with Pickle and Charlotte :)

Pickel is wrong: "All is good for now." doesn't translate as "Alles gut für jetzt." It's more like: "Soweit reicht das erst mal."

agenthoini I disagree. "for now" can't be translated as "für jetzt" since this is no good German. Good German for this is "erst (ein)mal". "Alles gut erst einmal." seems to be just acceptable, yet. But it's not good German at all especially because the meaning of it is so random compared to the meaning of the English original of "All is good for now."

I think you´re actually making it harder for yourself to learn german. Just learning random words without actually understanding the language is just unnecessary risk. You can see what I mean when you had to ask for Scheibenkäse. You already know what Käse is and if you "understood" the german language and structure you would be able to figure it out by yourself. However, your effort is amazing!
