How do you adjust the teeter bar? The chain occasionally hangs up on the red flapper

The black valve won’t close if there is water in the bowl without holding the trip lever until water is completely drained. Any ideas?

Make sure there's not too much slack in the chain. Typically one loose link is good. Too tight will not allow it to fall all the way and too loose causes hangups

Is the second lower red valve supposed to close? mine just floats around in the water, i have to push it down to get it to close and my toilet has quit flushing. thanks.

Yes it is supposed close or else water will constantly run into the bowl

My toilet leaks down every minute or so and all I can see is around the red flapper looks to be just a little bubble coming up from the back. Have already changed the value in the back of toilet.

How do you adjust the flappers so they don’t close to early?

You can try to lower the float a little on the flappers however there not alot you can do.

Just replaced the seals but the toilet does not flush completely - no whooshing sound and complete flush. Did not change any of the settings as the toilet operated correctly just leaked from worn out silicon seals.

Did you replace with genuine American Standard seals? Also make sure the floats were not accidentally adjusted causing the flapper to drop too quickly

How do you adjust so that the toilet flushes properly? I just bought a house that has these toilets & it was constantly filling with water every couple seconds. I replaced the silicone flaps but you have to hold the handle down for the toilet to flush properly. Can you tell me how to fix this problem?

@@honeybee2swt74 From what I could make out from your comment, it sounds like the handle nut is on too tight. loosen enough so you won't have to hold it down. When you depress the handle and let go the flapper should drop to stop water flowing

This will be the last American Standard crapper I will buy. I didn't expect to have to spend $40.00 to fix a flapper that allows water to seep and now will not flush the toilet. For that kind of money, I expected to last more than two years.

It’s guaranteed for 10 years,I have been calling them every year and they send new flappers for free. It’s still an over engineered,over priced never buy again toilet!

This is one of the worst designs ever. Adjusting the height of the teeter bar could take forever, and, once it is set.... For some reason it changes! Totally inconsistant performance. Will change toilet soon.
