Easy enough fix, but this is the third time I’ve had to fix it. So far I’ve been able to get free replacement parts from American Standard.

My silicone flappers have developed air bubbles in both of them which cause the toilet to leak. I have to turn off the water valve or the toilet is constantly trying to refill itself. Since both flappers developed the same problem in less than a year, it is probably a design defect. I would advise against buying an American Standard VorMax toilet until they improve the durability of the silicone flapper design.

I had to replace the Silicone seals twice, They last about a year. The Silicone seals are not a stocked item , it has to be special ordered at Home Depot. I'm not satisfied with the Vormax toilet.

The toilet itself is OK, however the silicone seal failed in just over a year. A replacement is over $20 and impossible to find in hardware stores. AS will send you one for free (at least they did for me,) but you will have a leaking toilet for a week...

Glad I watched this video just hours before trip to Menards. Too many moving parts will create a lot of problems, so my choice went to Titan.

over the past 5 years I have installed 4 Vortex toilets. They all now leak, and have doubled my water bill. The seals are a horrible design, which it appears AS realized, and now have redesigned. AS did send me seals for all toilets, as they are under a 10 year warranty. However, I also realize that this is only a temporary fix. Next time will likely choose another toilet maker, as this has been a bad experience. they work great when new! whoohoo.

I hated my VorMax toilet ever since I installed it around 6 or 7years ago, the red float would frequently go underneath the black flapper, or the chain on the black flapper would tangle on the bar causing the water to run all day unless you noticed it. you have to be MacGyver to make it work right. I don't know why I haven't changed it yet.

For me the silicone seal (underneath red flapper) had a small hardened bubble from calcium I guess? This leaked water from the tank and because of that the toilet kept needing to add water to the tank every few minutes. I contacted american standard and they came through with the replacement parts and my toilet is not leaking anymore. I've had this toilet for at least 2 years and hope these replacement seals work for much longer then that.

It's a great toilet. It does a great job of getting all the poop out of the bowl and makes the days that I clean it with bleach less gross...there is no need to scrub under the rim anymore because the water swishes thru the rim w/ every flush. It's a great design. Just some bleach to sanitize every now n then you're good.

I'm trying to like this toilet. But now needed to buy $22 of simple flappers to stop a slow leak so soon after a new installation is not fun. From other reviews, it seems like this will be a yearly cost of this design.

My Vormax is only 1 yr in service. I can hear that tank top up at least once per hour. I thought I was buying top of the line...turns out, I can’t even get the replacement flaps. Sorry for the pun , but that’s a $300 lemon down the drain! At the very least, service what you sell!!!

Had this toilet for about 3 years now. Worked well untill recently. Perhaps someone can assist. It seems to flush a tad too long. As a result the bowl empties too much for the next flush. I could be wrong but the black valve cover seems to remain open a second or two too long. Making the water drain too much. I cleaned the silicone and it seems to be sealing well. Just seems to remain open longer than it should. Any ideas?

Have had this toilet for over 2 years now, and it still works as good as it did when it was new. Not sure how long the seals are suppose to last, but when it comes time to replace them, I will pay what ever the cost, because we love this toilet. It flushes every time. We like it so well that we had one put one in our guest house, and other bathrooms in our main house. For some reason, after we have party guests we have to flush it a few times afterwards in order to get it working great again.?.?.

Groundhog You have to flush a few times because your guests hold the handle down. After holding the handle you have to re prime the toilet.

Hey American Standard, There no need to call and "troubleshoot" the issue. Everyone knows what the issue is, the silicone flapper seal developing bumps or bubbles in the silicone. I have 4 toilets and replaced all the flappers 2-3 times each and $20-$25 for each set is ridiculous. The question is...what are you doing to correct this issue other than having the owner purchase another set of silicone flapper seals or buy a different toilet? I bought few of these toilets. My issue is when they are on display higher up on a shelf, in a big box store, you cannot even see inside. Just have wish they last. I replaced them because I got tired of plumbers charges $$$ that was almost price of new toilet. Like many have said, after about 1-2 years this toilet is giving a problem and running. Removing wasn't easy. Now, flappers are, except for 1 hook, that will not come off. I'm so frustrated. It's not right when I buy a toilet from a big box store, they don't even carry parts for it.

Same problem as others. On my 3rd set of Silicone seals @ $18. each time. Trying to find a way to convert Vormax to conventual system using regular and cheaper flappers. Terrible design and they are still selling the Vormax.

It is a poor design. I bought it because of the Home Depot reviews . ( never trust them). The double flapper is overly complex but the real issue is the design of the internal water channel leading to the trap jet. It should be a continuous channel with a gradually narrowing diameter, going from the wide diameter at the flapper mouth, to the small diameter jet at the trap. It should have a continuous downslope, so that it automatically vents air into the reservoir tank if the user holds the lever down too long. It is actually a large volumetric cavity that entraps air if the lever is held down too long. This is why the installation instructions require you to flush 5x to prime it. You are actually flushing the air out of the system. The concept of the trap jet is great, but it needs redesign.

American Standard has over engineered a simple tank ball! making is so complicated it doesn't work. Tank balls use to work for a decade. This idiotic double flap / pinion based / silicon flap nonsense is just that...Nonsense. Could not find the silicon flaps using a nationwide supplier. Had to buy the entire unit @ $36!!!

this toilet is the worst I put this one in a den which is not used much at all less than a year old and its the water keep running in from the inside shootout port adjusted water 1/2 inch below overfill the flappers aren't holding and there not even warn out or a spec of dirt on them I believe it is a bad flapper flaw design doesn't make a good seal dont buy this toilet you've been warned

I have 2 Vormax that I bought recently and they both have a slow leak in the flapper. I can hear it refill the tank almost twice a week. Poor design.

The first in ghost leaking so i bought the silicon replacements, easy to put on, figured - hey great it'll be fixed.. and they did nothing to help. still leaks and fills about every 15 mins! i have to just turn it off. At this point i'm seriously pissed off. This video btw - really? watch how quickly they go over adjusting the red flapper - what!!??

I'm disappointed with American Standard. This is a premium toilet but behaves worse than a low end toilet. I get to decide whether I want to give my money to American Standard for replacement silicon flappers or my local water company because my Vormax toilets leak so much water.

Toto makes the exact toilet..flushes the same way..with one flapper and it never leaks...so I will be chucking these American standard bowls and installing Totos when able...these will never stop leaking unless they use better material and they wont...these bowls are an endless money pit...American Standard is junk now
