@@lmorgzy, may be I’m of an older generation. I remember ordering our silver cross pram for our daughter to sleep in during the day for the first few months of her life; didn’t go into buggy/pushchair until they could sit up. JT, I love you even more for wearing that hat! So much so I'm going to explain the word that others are extracting the piss from your lack of familiarity with...!! As you might expect, 'contra-' is related to contrary - which means saying or doing the opposite of what might otherwise be expected... '-ceptive' is a noun, that might also be abstract if used to describe a behaviour, reaction or feeling that isn't an object as such; also related to '-ceive' which is the related verb, or action-word... Think of where else you might see it: receive, deceive, conceive, perhaps - and ask yourself which of these would you prefer the opposite result, of what might otherwise be expected! Got it now?!! It's just like shit really - and that other four-letter word that Billy Connolly once wrote a song about: you may not have heard of the word - but you've sure as hell done it - or used one or more of its forms, I guess, in the case of contraceptives!! Not wishing to give the impression that we spend much time talking about others on this side of the ocean - especially in critical ways (as if...); we may indeed use the word 'gormless' to describe an individual known to us who appears "not to be the full shilling," or, "several sandwiches short of a picnic," to use but two of our most-used modern sayings - neither of which leaves the listener in much doubt as to how we believe the subject might be, based upon our observations of them. People in Scotland might use the local dialect word of 'glaikit,' which I think you'll agree has much the same effect - and so 'gormless' is probably the softer option...!!! 😂😂😂

You would say something like "He's a gormless idiot" "He's F***ing gormless. It's just one word in the arsenal of words and sayings that we have to call someone an idiot. For me rather than just someone who foolish it's more in line with a person who looks blankly at you when you try to explain how to do something.

In some parts of the UK (mostly Norn Iron and Scotland) the police are known as 'Peelers', the same derivation as 'bobbies' but using his surname instead. Usually used in a slightly less respectful way, "Oh oh, somebody called the Peelers", without resorting to calling them the Pigs, or the Fuzz. 'Bobbies' is generally used to refer to village police constables or neighbourhood beat cops in cities, i.e. those that patrol on foot and interact, in a good, way with locals. Examples of a gormless characters would be Forrest Gump, Jeff Dunham's puppet Bubba J. or Joe Biden!! No offense intended.

You'll hear 'knackered' all the time - very common word! 'Boffin' is only really used by newspapers like "The boffins over at MIT have discovered...". A bit of jiggery-pokery going on but I think you deserved your score - you are British now :D Huge congratulations on the 150k!!!!!!!!!!

Also, if you went to school in the UK and were a teen during the "2000s" we would use the term "boffin" for the smart kids, as opposed to geek or nerd which became more popular terms for smart kids later on due to the influence from American movies :) NIce vid! :)
