I am a socially challenged person from a council estate and I couldn't agree more with you. Dogs have always been used as a weapon by cowards and these dogs are often naturally very soft so they will be beaten and mistreated to be as aggressive as possible. After all you don't want a scary dog and then someone pulls a knife on you and the dog starts trying to lick the them. A little bit embarrassing 😂. I definitely agree that these dogs should be destroyed immediately. But, I also think German shepherd, rottweiler, huskies should be on that list too. I'm sick of people using dogs to feel hard. It's unnecessary. Just get a poodle or a king Charles spaniel.

Here's an idea. When a dog attacks someone charge the owner with the crime. If the dog kills, charge the owner with murder. If the dog maimes someone, charge the owner with GBH. Make the owner responible for the actions of their dog. Start putting people in jail and watch what happens.

It's not as simple as that. You need to look at the harm the particular dogs do. Labradors bite more people than any other dog. But they only bite not kill and the numbers of labradors are proportionally higher. Then theres Yorshire terriers they bite a lot but unless your a baby dont tend to do a lot of damage And like pitt bulls dont let go.

For the sake of dog welfare, we need to stop backyard breeding and implement far stricter rules for breeders. Sad that we will see many innocent dogs culled because of their roadman owners who clearly can’t treat them well, get them licensed, neutered etc. it will just keep happening after the ban is implemented..another breed will be exploited in the future. I've worked at a local vets , boarding and breeding kennels , my wife is a trained kennel maid , ex Bellmead student and dog beautician and we have owned numerous dogs for over 40 yrs . I've seen people with dogs like labradors (one of the breeds that are the most easy to train) pull their owner like they're part of a dog sleigh team or are out of control and disobedient. Dogs were bred for a purpose and need obedience. The problem with these bulldogs though is the wrong kind of person is buying them and there's a very good chance that these dogs have been poorly socialised and poorly trained. The malanois, GSD and the rottweiler (and other similar breeds) are all capable of killing.

If you ask someone to kill another person you will definitely get a life sentence. I watched 2 little 6 year old girls playing fetch with one off its lead in the street yesterday while the owner sat by chatting to her friend. The dog seemed playful at first but then the girls started running with the stick and the dog became frustrated and started to pull at their clothes, as the little girl held the stick in the air the dog tried to take her arm with it and luckily the owner jumped on the dog and quickly put it back on the lead... fucking disgraceful.

I studied animal welfare at college and most case studies showed it’s the owner who makes dogs what they are. Look at the army police and security they train some of their dogs to bite on command and 6 out of 10 times the dog don’t let go and some dog owners teach the same breed of dogs to be so friendly and docile that if you beat the dog it won’t do anything and some charities who trains service dogs use the same dog breeds that the police armed forces and security use as service dogs

Not true, some dogs are inherently aggressive, it’s in their DNA, it’s very difficult to train it out of them, I’m constantly hearing dog owners say “he’s never done that before” after their dog has attacked another dog, all it takes is one trigger! This would never have happened if we had some decent laws to control dog breeding. I think all private breeding of dogs and online sales of dogs, should be banned, along with the breeding of flat faced dogs. Any dog owner whose dog/dogs have more than one litter a year should have to register on a database, and be subjected to licencing and on the spot inspections of bitches and any breeding facilities. All dogs, regardless of breed, should be registered to a national database of dogs and dog owners. This would allow irresponsible dog owners to be traced more easily if their dog is found to be causing problems in public places or harassing livestock etc. There should also be fines for any dog owner who allows their dog to stray as well. ANY breed of dog is capable of being aggressive in the wrong environment, and there are many breeds capable of inflicting serious injury onto humans and other dogs, NOT just 'bull type' breeds either. Anyone with ANY doubts about their dog's temperament should muzzle and leash the dog when in public. Currently there are no laws limiting the number of dogs any person can own according to their home environment. I have known three or four large breed dogs to be kept in one bed flats for example. Cramped, overcrowded environments can cause dogs to become aggressive and the number of dogs you can own should be determined by your living space. I am also a dog owner, so no, we are not all irresponsible fools.

Initially I was against the ban but now I’m unsure. I’ve only known one person be attacked by dogs and it was 2 XL bullys that knew her for years but randomly snapped and I’ve read a few stories like that now. Vets, biologists, animal physiologists and trainers should be consulted by Gov to get an expert evaluation of the breed in general.

To drive you need a licence, I think everyone should pass the Dogs Trust test before you can own a dog and an appropriate licence should follow. If you are found owning a dog that is not socialised properly then you loose your license and the privilege of owning a dog. Also all dangerous dog must be neutered by law.

These dogs were initially developed to maximise aggression and strength. These characteristics weren’t developed for them to be sheep dogs or retrievers. I know that ANY dog is capable of attacking people and being aggressive , however , when one of these beasts, for whatever reason , attacks a person then this selective breeding makes the XL Bully even more dangerous. That’s a fact . I get the fact that bad ownership can attribute to any dog attacking. That is why a ban has to be introduced. Thankfully that ban is a matter of when not if . There will always be people who want to own this type of dog for all the wrong reasons and actively encourage the breed’s characteristics for which it was initially selectively o bred .Get rid of them. To deny that some breeds are not traditionally bred to be aggressive is avoiding facts. BUT how these kind of dogs are brought up and trained is key as to how they develop into disciplined and lovable dogs instead of out of control monsters. I own a powerful Olde English Bulldog, and would be up for having powerful dog owners to require license. This guy saying its not owner is the dogs is an absolute nob head… dogs are a reflection of the owners and unfortunately people who usually want bulldogs are scumbags

This absolute noddy saying "kill them all" why don't you volunteer for a vet and spend your days assisting in culling family pets and see how well you sleep at night. I'm not a dog person in the slightest but it's obvious even to me that although dogs are natured in certain ways, proper dog ownership involves understanding your dogs temperament and acting accordingly.
