Great tag Elliott. Jason Isbell is probably my favorite current Americana artist. The Louvin Brothers had such great harmonies. You showed quite a few artists that I need to check out. Love the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album with such amazing guests. Take care.

Loved it Elliot. Did my heart good to see such mentions. BTW… I just read in BU that Craft is going to reissue Tony’s Church Street Blues in April! How good is that!! 😝
@elliottcrews49979 ай бұрын
Hi Gary, hopefully the Church Street reissue is only the beginning of many reissues from the Sugar Hill back catalog.

Hello. I enjoyed your video. I have about 10000 records and old country music scrapbooks for the most part. Im a particular fan of 1920s through 1950s country. My favorite is the 50s work of Hank Snow. I also love particularly Reno and Smiley records. I also agree about the Blue Sky Boys. I also have the Bear Family cd set on them. So I always appreciate when someone highlights old time country and bluegrass. I haveca channel on classic country lps. Thanks again for sharing.

Hi Rob, I appreciate that you watched and that you took the time to comment. Those pre-war years in Country were a golden age weren't they! I just picked up a couple of Reno and Smiley albums. I was fortunate enough to see them a few times back in the 1970s at our local Bluegrass festival. I'll check out your channel, sounds like a good one!

Loved your picks. High Country Snows is excellent. I’d like to add Old and In The Way for super group. Peace and love always

Hi James, thanks for watching and commenting. You are right, Old and in The Way would have been a good pick for super group! Take care my friend.

Crooked Tree is awesome, Gillian Welsh and Molly on Side Saddle are heaven sent. Jason is a latecomer for me, just got into him last spring and saw him on the Weathervanes tour. Rhiannon, what a voice! My sister got to meet her a few years ago. Billy Strings is a freak of nature. I don't know how anyone could move their fingers that fast. I need to get that Sam Bush Hartford tribute, he's a legend on the mandolin. Will the Circle is such a monumental record, love everything about it. Thanks for doing this Elliott!

Challenge accepted! Actually, you’re the second person to “tag” me. Check out Brian at Shamrock’n Records. Yeah, the Americana thing is pretty broad. I’m sure I’ll be showing things that some people wouldn’t call “Americana.” Cheers, Elliott!

Great video, as always, Elliott. For some reason I don’t get Jason Isbell. Everyone keeps telling me he’s great, but he’s not clicked with me. A couple of years ago I watched an instructional video by Molly Tuttle where she demonstrated how to flat pick. I sat down with my guitar and slowly followed her instructions, playing what she played and slowly getting faster. After about 20 minutes I suddenly realised that I already played the guitar like that, I just didn’t know it was flat picking…Just nowhere near as skilfully as she plays. Cheers - Hedley
@elliottcrews49978 ай бұрын
Hi Hedley! I think we all have artists like that. For instance Ryan Adams has never don't anything for me. I liked his band Whiskeytown but his solo stuff I can't seem to connect with at all. Tuttle is amazingly fast isn't she? I just wish she would do a instrumental album where she just shows off all that skill she possesses. Take care my friend!

I recently found lps by June Stearns, Bonnie Guitar, James O'gwynn. Also Ernest Stoneman and Blueridge Cornshuckers!
