I ran into this video again, Brian, and I wanted to say the Shady Grove w/ David Grisman is one of my all-time favorite tracks ! Tony Rice smokes Jerry on the soloing, pretty much.. But.. Who cares they were great friends for life.. The banter at the end is classic, with Jerry and Tony decompressing from their amazing guitar work ! Some of Jerry's best material came about when he relaxed back home in Marin County with his old pal David !

The Avett Brothers is such a great choice and a group that I always try and get my friends to listen to. I love that Thorns album and The Devil Makes Three. You showed a lot of my favorites. Justin Townes Earle is a great choice. I was lucky enough to see him and John Prine but there are so many others I have missed including Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Josh Ritter and The Avett Brothers are two of my favorites and I have not seen them live. Ritter's newest record is definitely a different animal and I'm not sure what I think about it either. It almost seems like his ambient album. Great tag.

I first heard of Nanci in the 90’s when Toad the wet sprocket wrote a song about her! Check out the Thorns. Great band! Cheers☘️

Yeah.. Easily, this has always been my favorite genre really starting in a big way back in 1971 as a 14 yr. old long haired kid ! I came home with David Bromberg's debut, Nashvile Skyline and Jerry Jeff's self titled, a bit later ! Droge, Mullins and Sweet.. What a combo ! Romeo & Juliet.. Yes.. Cool cover by the girls ! Excellent thread by Sam btw..🎵

I first heard of Shovels and Rope because they opened for Justin Townes probably in 2009 or so. I knew people that went to the show. Cheers☘️

Checkout Drayton Farley - he is from Alabaster, AL & has a similar tone to J Isbell. Btw, I live in Vestavia Hills, AL (one of Isbell’s best songs on new album) 😎 -Russ

That Justin Townes Record was recorded live in a room straight to analog tape in Asheville, NC. Saw him on that tour in 2012 with full band and again solo in 15. Met him and got a pic with him. Devastated when I got the news. New subscriber here. Great vid

Damn, my buddy Derek was a huge fan of Justin’s during that time period and I was only casual. I really started getting into him more shortly before he passed. I wish I got to see him. You were able to see a legend. He was fantastic! Cheers☘️

Hey Brian! Good to see you doing this. You know what's the most interesting thing about your choices? It evidences so well the breadth of the Americana genre. While we are both playing in the same sand pit, we are playing at different ends. I'm familiar with most of the artists you showed, but haven't bought any of their albums. Half way though I thought there wasn't going to be a single record you showed which I owned...But then you spoiled everything by showing Blitzen Trapper's Furr. Of course, I have all of Gillian Welch's albums, just not your fancy shmancy box set you were showing off. Nice video mate. Hed

I watched yours yesterday and I have quite a bit of the stuff you showed. I couldn’t show anything because you beat me to it. Hahaha I love that Iron and Wine record you showed. Excellent video. I was writing down artists and album names at a furious clip. Saw Josh Ritter when he was supporting Hello Starling. Didn't know a thing about him. Just read a blurb in the local weekly. Walked into a small club and was completely blown away by what I saw. Snow is Gone got the crowd going because it was in the middle of the winter in Minneapolis. Was just what we all needed.

Thank you. We have very similar taste. I named you as one of my new channels that I started watching on my vinyl tag. Not sure if you saw that. Haha I’d love to see Ritter, he got me through my divorce. lol. He’s a genius. My company that I work for is based out of the Minneapolis area. I go out there once a year. I never get time to hit the shops and it drives me bonkers!!! Haha Hopefully this year. Cheers☘️

@@ShamrocknRecords Thanks for mentioning me! Sometimes I start videos, get distracted by real world responsibilities, and then it takes me a while to find the open window I had to resume them. That happened with your vinyl tag. Just watched rest of it. Love your taste. You go so deep into Americana. Ritter is one of most generous performers I've ever seen. He's usually beaming up there on stage, grinning from ear to ear. I haven't followed him as much in recent years. Saw him not that long ago in Oakland and it was a good show. I was back in Minneapolis over Thanksgiving and hit the record stores and had a great experience. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. And bringing in some $$ in the new year to purchase some of your recommendations. :)

Hi Brian! I've watched a couple of these videos and think I might have a crack at it this weekend. My Americana type artists are mostly older stuff but I think I have enough to make a video. Many new artists in your video I was not familiar with. I will have to look up that guy from Massachusetts Stephen Kellogg!

I’m so glad I stumbled onto your channel. I’m a huge Americana Fan but don’t have a lot of access to the new Artists. You have me lots of stuff to check out. I see a Townes album there. I was lucky enough to meet him twice back in the early 90’s. We only have one Independent record store here in Richmond and they cater to the College crowd. Yo7 forward to more content from you.

Look at this! We get two videos from you in just a couple of days! I saw Shovels and Rope with the Wood Brothers, they rocked! Avetts, love that record so much. Weathervanes is so good. I've Just Seen a Face almost made my pick too, the Dillards do a great version if you've never heard it. Oh man, Old No 7 is killer! Had no idea you liked Devil Makes 3! New Basement Tapes, I love that, still don't own it though! This might have been my favorite response so far! Thanks Brian for doing this.

Honestly, I do not have a favorite Mary Chapin record. I know songs but not full records. I only own one of hers on vinyl and years ago I had one on cd. Perhaps I shall delve into her catalog a bit. Thanks for watching and I very much appreciate the comment. Cheers, Brian☘️
