Hi Victoria. Thanks for your video. In my opinion, except yours tips, the most important thing is to be relaxed during the job interview and not bother talking about topics not strictly related to your future duties. Wishing you every success in your next interviews, if you ever attend.

It must have been a long time ago. Nowadays, after many great videos you've made, you would definitely feel more confident and much less stressed. You perform in front of a few thousand people and there are one or two for the interview.

Hi / Dzień dobry, Viktoria! Greetings from Poland. Could you please help me to understand the tip#6? I couldn't find the link to video in the video description. Thanks Michał
@AmericanAccentMastery4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michał! I’m sorry about that- I put in a “card” but I didn’t consider that those only show up on certain types of devices. Here are two videos about contractions- m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqOrqYSbq6yAas0 m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fILPhqKHps6MndE Pozdrawiam serdecznie:)

Hello :) Very interesting tips, especially with stress the important word and learning how to pronounce the most important words correctly. When it comes to "contractions" it's hard to learn and not "break the tongue" like They'll. It's very hard to use them in a sentence without making a mistake on the way, especially when you haven't used them before all your life;) Greetings from Poland :)
@AmericanAccentMastery4 жыл бұрын
Hi Patryk:) Thanks so much! I think that for contractions to come more easily, try to disassociate them from their spelling and the full form pronunciation. Your brain will be more accepting of saying a totally “new” word, say /ðəɫ/, rather than trying to think of it as a very strange pronunciation of “they’ll”. Best of luck! Pozdrawiam serdecznie!!

I've been watching your videos. And I just subscribed. I work for a call center and bearing in mind I have never been to States I have a hard accent sometimes, I was deployed in middle east working with so many countries like U.S. Australia, New Zealan , Canada... The point is I understand everything and I can express everything but I need to find a way for softing my accent. Any ideas?thanks.
@AmericanAccentMastery4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan! This is actually kind of tough, since what is considered “accented” will very much depend on your conversational partner. If your goal is to be understood most easily, I would base your choice on where the greatest number of your callers are from. What’s your native language?

Hi Dan! I have lots of Colombian friends, how lovely:) I would focus on noticing that the vowel sounds in English aren't related to spelling, and on stress/intonation. This video may also help you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX3bnYOQmMZ_r7s Best wishes!!

So, you know French, too? Then you are a certifiable polyglot! I will have to get "The Culture Map". I remember reading parts of "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword" by Ruth Benedict, and it was a major eye-opener for me. Also, it appears that you are now beginning your new format. It's official 👍(Uh oh, I'm now using emojis!)
@AmericanAccentMastery4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gregory! I do speak French, though apparently not well enough for the workplace;-) I think you’d find The Culture Map very interesting! I definitely did! I haven’t heard of the book you mentioned, though I just looked it up and it also looks very good. Take care:-)

I did not understand any word when the manager asked me a question. I thought his microphone was not clear enough or speaking too fast. I asked him to repeat the question and still did not understand him. Then I realized that I had a language barrier. There are jobs that do not require native English level skills. There are so many foreigners that worked for American companies from Germany, Russia, Hungary, etc. in the 20th century. Scientist, engineers and accountants do not native English language skills since they don't have to deal with the public.
