How It's Made - Watch Us Make A Cyclone Leather Cowboy Hat

We hope you enjoy this inside look on how we manufacture one of our leather hats. Today we are featuring the Cyclone Leather Cowboy Hat, it's available in Men's, Women's and Kids sizes and comes in a variety of colors. It is one of our longest running hat styles over the last 50 years we've been in business. It's a tried and true staple here at American Hat Makers.
Let's talk about the music, there have been a lot of comments about it so we thought we'd add a little update here. Yes, we'd love to just hear the asmr sounds of the machines and the shop. There is NO debate on our end. Unfortunately, when I was recording, there was music playing in the background like it does every day, so, it was an oversite. Due to copyright issues, we had to dub over the shop music with some KZbin approved music, so here we are. Rookie move!!!! I recorded two other hats being made on the same day so y'all are going to see it again. Moving forward, lessons learned, and the radio will be off so you can enjoy all the natural sounds happening.

With so many machines in the production process, you have no way to say that it is made by hand, only if you want to deceive the public

@@leatheraccessories646 With anything one does, one has to use tools. Those machines are tools just like a carpenter whether he uses his good old hammer or the new battery operated hammers. Products/goods produced by machines with no or little human intervention would not be considered hand made.

Same brand I've had since the mid 1990's. Made much like that and a darker brown more suede leather. Favorite hat especially for wet or cold weather. Just keep it waterproof.

@@AmericanHatMakers it's a hat with a lot of breathability looks like that hat but it has mesh along the top sides and the top is solid as is the brim, that way there is a venturi effect so as I am walking or a light breeze comes along I feel a lot cooler.

I have worn broad brimmed hats for more than 50 years, felt, leather and wire rimmed leather and without doubt the best is rabbit felt Akubra hats from Australia. Would not even bother trying another leather hat. But they're great for urban cowboys.

It's weird that I have a hat similar to this but its different, it's it's an outback hat made in Australia and the major difference is that it doesn't have a gus to it. What I like about the video is that you can reshape the hat with a little water on the underside. Very cool.

Excellent video. Impressive editing also. Questions: How many people (total) touch this hat in its manufacture. Just curious. Water soluble contact cement around the band is a nice touch. Plus all the binding tape at the seams. Great! And, I am guessing that bottle at the end is Bick 4? Love that to condition leather. Again, thanks.

great question, this hat hit 22 stations (some people touched it more than once) and this doesn't include packing, shipping and tanning (this process is done before we get it). Yes, that was a bottle of Bick 4 👍

Nice hat, wonder how it'll hold up to weather. With all hats meant to be used outdoors its keeping structure in rain, wind, snow is what fails. Stetson or 5$ Amazon hat, that's what goes first for me.

How does it hold in the rain and snow? Do you have to add mink oil like boots?

It holds up great! It's treated with a rain resistant scotchgard during the tanning process. Just condition a couple times a year depending on daily use.
