There is hope. i have liver cirrhosis... and have had varices bleeding and ascites and jaundice.. that was 10 years ago. My scars still take time to heal but I am still going. Never give up.

@stevebrazilio hello glad to hear of you recovering out of cirrhosis. Can you share on how to deal with this cirrhosis? Was diagnosed 4 years ago, but it seems now that it’s getting worse. Im felt bloated sometimes.

I have Cirrhosis also. I am going back on Transplant list, due to increase in MELD Score. 10Yrs. That’s great! Glad to hear you’re doing good. Do you know what your MELD Score is? And if there’s anything you can recommend, I would appreciate it.

@@tracybukowy6047 hi, I’m not sure what a MELD score is. Gamma GTs should be around 64 I believe, mine are over 1200 but I’m still going. Cirrhosis is not the end. It’s obviously permanent scarring of the liver but the liver is an amazing organ in terms of all of the functions it performs and what it can cope with. Biggest risks as an alcoholic are oesophageal bleed (40 per cent mortality rate) and hepatacellular carcinoma. Thankfully I’m still going, 10 years after these scares so there is hope. Propranolol is a good drug as it slows down the heart and decreases the risk of a bleed.

stop drinking, exercise and healthy food and you can have many decades because you dont have cirrhosis yet. You only have Fibrosis. If you choose change lifestyle it will stabilize or heal (the firbrosis will get repaired by your body due to healthy foof and exercise). If you continue to not change your lifestule and in particular alcohol, you are almost 100% Guarantee to have big big problems and maybe only a decade from now

AMEN to that. I don’t actually have access to a MD doctor. My PCP is a physician’s assistant and the liver specialist I see is also a physician’s assistant. I have asked to see an endocrinologist to make sure my thyroid/hormones are working properly. My liver PA says she cannot give me a recommendation to see an endocrinologist and my PA refuses to do so. It bother’s me that I am given very little explanation regarding my liver, my thyroid or the testing and progress of these organs. I have little or no say regarding my medical care. Aetna and Univ of Utah healthcare system failed in their contract negotiations so Aetna will no longer consider this healthcare system in-network. Fine by me because I believe my best move is to find other more transparent doctors.
