This was amazing doing all four gens of the Coyote V8. This is very useful when comparing since they were doing in the same day with the same conditions. You normally never see that. I will say the 2013 through 2014 is easily the best lookin of the generations. A quarter mile time with these four on the same spec/size tire would be perfection in wrapping up the comparison. Keep up the great work

I remember when I bought my 2012 Mustang GT. The 412hp at the time was pretty high for a base model GT. It felt so fast at the time.
@midnight347
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
It's still fast they're barely behind these new ones and they can actually be modified and tuned unlike the new one. There is more to how quick something is than just peak power. Also the 11-17 mt82 had much better gearing vs 18 up mt82. So the difference in real world performance isn't far off from a gen 1 to gen 4 all using manuals. The gen 1 and 2 were the best bang for the buck. The new ones cost alot more for very little stock vs stock improvement and no improvement at all in potential since they're locked down the older cars have much better potential.

Here's the trick, starting with the Gen 1 Coyote, you would need a Track Pack optioned Mustang. With Gen 2 Coyote, it would be a PP2 Mustang. Then Gen 3 & 4 Coyotes, it's just PP Mustang. Those are all Mustangs at the same trim level. LMR actually weighed a PP Gen 3 Coyote against a base Gen 4 Coyote and called it an adequate comparison. Which it most certainly isn't. LMR doesn't realize that options add weight. Any drag racer who's ever gutted a car for racing weight will confirm that options do infact add weight.

Okay respectable numbers for stock, the gen 4 is still not worth the money or the effort. Gen 1-3 you can tune add turbos or a supercharger possibly doubling the horse power. You can push it even farther with a built coyote, transmission and e85 You can't do any of that with the gen 4, just sit back and hope Ford increases the power with that over the wifi tune. The aftermarket top tuners has already stated it's gonna be 2 or more years before you can expect to add power. How many people do you think is going to wait that long? Not many there will be a lot of them on used car lots long before that happens. On top of that the GTD mustang is coming next year, now that's worth looking forward too.

@deathscythehell7937 Жыл бұрын
@@gotdamnjimi9758 Oh yeah, the dark gelding the other castrated horsie. If I'm unable to tune or add horsepower it's worthless. The best part about owning a mustang is ability to tune an upgrade it. But you can't do that with the GT or the dark gelding can you? I haven't left a mustang stock since I owned a Fox body, it's all about taking it to the next level. Oh, I've already started the ordering process for the GTD. Did you think I didn't know it was limited? My summer job from 15 to 18yrs old until I went to college was working at a speed shop. I own highly modified 900hp 67 gt500, a 1000+hp 20 gt350r, 1000+hp 22 gt500 the GTD will fit right in with them. Anything less than 800hp that I can't tune it and take it to the track isn't worth my time or busted knuckles.
@gotdamnjimi9758
@gotdamnjimi9758 Жыл бұрын
@@deathscythehell7937 that definitely is the truth brother being unable to tune and modify your car to your liking sucks. I am looking forward to what ford ends up doing with all its consumer’s thoughts on the matter. Im personally happy and sticking with my 19. I do believe I have an idea on why everyone is getting low results with the new 2024 mustang. What I’m about to say is purely hypothetical but I believe it’s because they release them first with a low tune on purpose. An in two to three months or so from now they will release an over the air update that will actually awake the car. God I hope that makes sense and that I don’t sound dumb and get memed.

@@gotdamnjimi9758 Personally I think this version of the mustang was built to bring in the younger generation. Most of them don't have the desire or the ability to work on their cars. My grown son's would rather look at at a computer screen or phone screen than turn a wrench, (god knows I tried with them) my daughter on the other hand doesn't mind getting a little grease on her hands. She was right there in the garage helping me customize her Jeep Rubicon last year. I guess you can tell who's my favorite. 🤣🤣🤣 Her husband didn't even come over to help, I think he's intimidated by me.

And yet after all these years a 2024 GT is basically no faster than a 2011 GT (at least the manual with 3:73 rear end) because of years of bloated weight gain. IMHO the 2011-2012 GT with deluxe interior is the sharpest, cleanest design, perfectly proportioned with a neoclassic interior. And the engine bay looks the best too! It's the best execution of modern design with nod to the classic lines. Honorable mention goes to the 2013-1014 styling. But the front gives hint of the slab front 4" pedestrian impact zone that has all but ruined the exterior styling of every new vehicle.

well that explains why my 2016 Focus ST is walking these guys that are just exhaust/bolt ons... Im a decent bit over 400whp and have been wondering why even after giving them the hit, I just kind of walk away and they look nice, sound nice, and always pick on me, but when I decide to give in...they dont want to play anymore XD

great car and all but can we get a clean sheet mustang please. retro was cool for a while but they've been making it look like a '68 for 19 years now. we never would've got a fox,sn95, or new edge like this.

If the gen 2 is the macdaddy then that’s news to me. I’ve owned a gen 1,2 and 3 coyote and the 2nd gen blew on me after 30k total miles and it was stock. No track days. I liked 1 and 3 a lot better even before it blew

Gen 2 is best for big boy horsepower, like 1000+whp. Gen 2 just works better being a simple port injection engine with everything so vetted it’s a cakewalk.

@@thefitnesslife4988 maybe in the automatic transmission with the more aggressive gearing in the 10r80, but with the manuals they feel pretty similar overall. Motor trend has the 13-14 gen 1 at 4.3 0-60 and 4.4 for the 18 GT with the manual, I’ve only owned the manuals.

Yes- gen3 and gen4 were in 3rd since 4th is 1:1 in those gens. Gens 1&2 the 1:1 is 5th. Sorry I didn’t clarify that in the vid 👍🏼 - Justin

If I remember correctly the 3rd gen mustangs had a slightly taller gear ratio compared to say a 2016. That might account for the slight reduction in torque gear-for-gear.

Were the numbers a bit off at the end because the cars weren’t all done in the same gear? You said they would all be done in 4th gear before the 1:1 but the 3rd and 4th gen was done in 5th gear in the video. Love the comparison between them all still!

Do this, i know ford uses synthetic oils from the factory, but put royal purple in the engine, transmission, and rear end and see if they produce any more HP/TQ. I seen a show back around 2000 that showed like a 36hp gain just by changing the oils
@midnight347

The new royal purple sucks. Also these new cars use better fluids factory than they had 20 years ago there won't be that kind of gain. Rp is prob not what you'd wanna choose nowadays unless it's the hps or the racing one.
