My 19 GT on 93 did in fact (bone stock) avg 3 pulls 403RWHP on a Dyno Jet. Fantastic vid, actually gives answers to those questions ALL of us wanted to know BEFORE spending our money. The fly in the ointment is the JLT result. Hood open, accurate. However with hood closed - way high -really more like 9 to 13 RWHP. Worth mentioning P51 cold air system ~ $250. It actually does JLT like dyno #'s with hood closed. Again-fantastic video 👌👌

I think with a closed hood the JLT would’ve made the same as the stock intake pipe… not to mention it would probably drop trap speed considering it’s not a sealed box VS the factory box ram air at high speed…

@@thundorkatif you're flowing more air you need an intake. The open filter with a decent heat shield isn't that big of a deal. Temps may climb some in the pits or sitting in traffic but they go down very fast once you're moving. They flow more than stock and that isn't really needed until you're flow9jg more air than stock elsewhere like ported manifold headers or even cams. Then it benefits you alot more. All the mods work in combination with one another. There are closed box aftermarket intakes if you're that worried about it.

I was pulling 4-6° of timing on the dyno and he asked me what kind of gas I used and I told him Shell and Amco/BP. To my surprise he told me that's the worst gas that I should use because it has those additive cleaners. Shell uses v power and AAMCO BP uses invigorate. He said that causes the gas to burn at a hotter temperature and it tricks the engine into thinking something is wrong and then the engine goes into safe mode and pulls timing. He recommended to use off-brand gas with no additives and just throw in some Lucas octane booster. He said to stay away from all gas that has those additive cleaners because he said they don't really clean much anyway and by the fact that I have a JLT catch can I'm not going to be needing much cleaning anyway
