To become an actor/actress in India, it is necessary to have skill of dancing, lip syncing aside from acting, looks and body. Also few of them are singers too and sing for their own movies too but it happens only sometimes.But here's in India, mainstream music industry works differently unlike other countries.All the great musicians, singers and music composer mainly works for movies and show their talents through by singing for movies music videos. There was a golden era of INDIE POP in 90's and in early 2000 and but got destroyed because audience preferred bollywood songs over Indie pop. But now it is reviving again.Aside from Bollywood, in India there are more than 22 successful music industry with different languages, also hundreds of successful independent singers , rappers and bands whom people like and love to listen . You will find here folk songs, classical songs, bollywood songs, other languages Indian movies songs, hip hop songs with Indian beat and international beat, rappers music, metal music songs, bands and devotional songs , songs with short stories and INDIE Pop etc. And these all music industry have its own style,language, culture and charm. And all combining makes "INDIAN Music Industry".

Excellent explainer for how this works! As an American it took me a bit to understand it and it’s hard for me to explain it to others. I love Bollywood films! My personal favorite playback singer is Sreerama Chandra. I found him on KZbin after his season of Indian Idol and have followed him since. I know he sings in Hindi, Tamil, and. Couple other languages. His own music is so pretty too.

In Indian movies they generally have playback singers so the actors on screen are not singing, this is an end credit song.

They have singers for hindi movies. A few actors have sung for 1 or so of their movies. The actors have to already practice their dance moves and the lyrics for the songs, so there no time to be recording songs in the studio when they have to shoot the film etc. ShahRukh Khan has been acting since 1988 on tv and his first film came out in 1991 or 1992. He's in his late 50s.

Tq for the reaction guys! SRK has been acting in Bollywood cinema for the past 30 years! He's been consistent doing movie every year accept for ywar 2019-2022 he decided to take a break from filming. This song is a bomb !! This is one of the song in the movie Pathaan. Most of the song that u have watched so far are from a movie. Please check out the trailer for the action-packed movie! India has over 200 background singers covering various languages like (Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali etc...) They all are background singers (both male and female) each specializing in some for of talent or other. Indian songs and the singers are deep rooted either from the Carnatic style of singing or to the Hindustani style of singing....

As for Shah Rukh Khan (KING KHAN as he is commonly addressed). He is one of the richest veteran Indian actor who has has a real long stint in Bollywood (movie kingdom from erstwhile Bombay) ---- this is both in terms of his tenure in the Hindi Cinema and for his age (guess he is around 57 or 58 as of today)....
