Matt Berry sounding like he's announcing something comes in really handy for him, there's a radio station here in the UK called Absolute and their 80's channel just has him doing the announcements every few minutes, he's half the reason I listen to it.

@@maxcadyuk Yeah, if my memory is correct, it's written & directed by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement, who is also one of the vampires. I think Jermaine does most of the writing for the series, but I might be wrong. Edit: According to imdb, Jermaine Clement does indeed do most of the writing for the series.

In Rome Total War 2 the voice you may be refering to is Mark Strong, whom you may know from the movie The Kingsman. He played the character Merlin. They do have similar voices though.

He wrote Black Books? His name is Graham Linehan - he's the reason for the funnies (and he's irish and he doesnt wear underwear and uses trees as rubbing branches for his athletes foot)

Black Books wasn't a Linehan show. I have no idea where this idea came from. He contributed as a supporting writer (among many) for series 1. That was it. Black Books was Dylan Morgan's project.

Matt Berry (Reynholm) does do a ton of voice over work, but the voice you hear in Rome Total War that you think is him, is probably Brian Blessed, who has a similar baritone voice. Brian Blessed is well worth checking out and reacting to, by the way. A very unique man, with an unbelievable life.

Douglas is played by Matt Berry. a very famous comedy actor and singer. He probably does voice work as well but came to fame in a series called Garth Merenghi's Dark Place and also Toast of London. He's also got recognition for playing a vampire in the New Zealand series called What We Do in the Shadows which was a spinoff from the film of the same name. He's actually an amazing singer and headlines with many famous bands and musicians.

I think you are confusing Matt Berry with Brian Blessed, Matt Berry hasn’t done any voice work for the Rome: Total War series Brian Blessed has a very distinctive voice, if you know the film Flash Gordon or even just the song by Queen, Brian Blessed is the one who says “Gordon is alive!”, he also voices Boss Nass, the leader of the Gungans of Otoh Gunga, the city beneath the surface of the Lake on Naboo that Ja Ja Binks is from in the Star Wars franchise, he also voices the grumpy rabbit in Peppa Pig, the British version at least, I don’t know if they use American voice actors in the US or not, he also gave me a massive rollocking when I was a kid and I nearly pissed my pants, that’s one person you don’t want shouting at you when you are just a kid 😂 his normal speaking voice could pass through lead let alone his shouting voice, he could shout here on earth and bob the Alien could here him on Mars

Matt Berry is a prolific voice actor whose works include several TV commercials as well as being the voice in the jingles of UK radio station Absolute Radio. In one of his other hilarious sitcoms, Toast of London, most of the episodes begin with him sat in a recording studio recording a ridiculous voice-over. He also stars in the American vampire sitcom, What We do in the Shadows, in which he plays Lazlo - a vampiric version of Douglas Reynholm.

I imagine the actor from Total War that you're thinking of is Brian Blessed. An amazing British icon, also with a very distinctive voice! If you've never seen the British comedy "Blackadder", he was in the first series, though if you HAVEN'T seen Blackadder, I'd recommend starting that from the second series 😁

The guy who plays Douglas is Matt Berry and yes he is also a voice actor (you reacted to the Fathers Day short which he voices). I'm sure someone has previously commented to answer your question. But he is also in a show called "What we do in the shadows" about Vampires. You should definitely check that one out it's good. You might have to start with the film first though? Same as if you ever watch "This is England" start with the film... Anyway hope this helps.
