Matt Berry who plays Douglas, is in a hilarious American made series about a load of ancient vampires living, in modern times, on Staten Island, called What We Do In The Shadows. He plays Laszlo a 310 year old vampire. Five series of 50 odd episodes have been shown on FX but has never got more than 400,000 - 500,000 US viewers. It is based on an original New Zealand made film and is hilarious. Please try and catch it as I know you will both get the humour, having loved this, Plebs, The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner and so on.

I'd forgotten how hilarious this was, the one where they go to see the gay musical was just genius. A masterclass in how to do a comedic episode, and though I've seen that one dozens of times, I'll never not laugh at Roy going up and down that ramp in a wheelchair! There's not a bad episode imo. Channel 4 isn't a cable channel my friend. In the UK we started with just BBC 1, that was our only TV channel when television launched here, then we got BBC 2 and followed shortly by ITV, and that was it for like 20 years or something then in the 80s Channel 4 was launched. It was all public broadcast, no cable. I believe we started having cable and satellite services introduced in the 90s, possibly earlier but you had to be well off to be able to afford that. The majority of the country just had those 4 channels, later joined by channel 5. You legally had to have a TV license to watch TV at all but even if you didn't all you need was a TV and you could watch those basic channels. Our history with television is very different to America's, hope you find that interesting haha. Been enjoying your content.

.. To me the gun in the drawer scene was kind of the quintessential example of the phrase "Idle hands is the devil's plaything".. It sounded like a simple task, because of this Douglas was so confident he could actually succeed to fulfill someone's expectations for one.. BUT.. his clear ADHD meant that he can't just sit still and be focused.. The question becomes.. "How much in trouble can you get while staying in one place"... Well.. look around a bit and you may find out.

IT Crowd Jingle, sung to the opening music of Hawaii Five-O: "Come and watch IT Crowd. Turn it off and on. Come and watch IT Crowd. And we'll have some fun. Do do do do do do do do do, Do do do do do do do do do do do, Do do, Turn it off and on, and we'll have some fun."

The next ep, s3 e2, Are We Not Men?, is very good. S3 e4, The Speech, is even better.

@@gavh9360 The episode features Douglas fighting a trans woman because he mis-hears her saying she used to be a man and they break up. The creator of the show (Graham Linehan) is known for having some pretty aggressive anti-trans views. At the time of the episode airing this wasn't known but in hindsight it doesn't look great. Matt Berry has distanced himself from the episode and said he doesn't share the views of Linehan.

I have the strong feeling that you should... no, wrong word... might want to? no... *_absolutely must_* watch Tim Minchin, the "full uncut version" of "If I didn't have you". Ideally as a reaction, but you really, _really,_ *_REALLY_* need to watch it, even if just for yourselves... I don't want to spoil anything, I'll just say that a certain moment in this video gave me that impression (and Tim is an amazing comedian/musician/composer/everthing genius anyway)🥰

Channel 4 is not a cable channel in the UK - it is one of the 'normal' free to view channels (sort of - TV licences are for another day) basically after 9pm in the UK it can be pretty much a free for all - although they have started with the trigger warnings for everything - if something has sex, violence, upset, death, links to anything that could be considered offensive, or that is now considered so.
