Nice to meet your old friend. The point of the sketch is not to make fun of the various foreign CEOs, their languages or their nationalities. It is to mock the silly translator, this just only one of her "Oh, I can do that" sketches..

How amazing you and your mate have been friends through school and now college. Yes, bring him back for more of your videos. I love this particular one where Catherine plays a "translator" .... so funny; I can quite imagine how many takes took place.

Catherine Tate was also a companion for a couple series of David Tennant's Dr. Who. Her extraordinary performance in the "Doctor Lite" episode "Turn Left" made it among the very best of the David Tennant era. Also highly recommended "Planet of the Ood". Not just a comedienne!!

Indeed. Tate was a serious actress before she tried her hand at comedy. She trained at the Central School of Drama, and has appeared with The National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.

@@iainv4092 Absolute crap. You haven’t watched what the US cancel these days. Basic stuff you can see every night on the BBC. In the States you can shoot a woman to bits with an AK 47, that’s ok, provided you don’t see a bare breast.

Bro I think your sense of humour is more British I think..what was funny was watching you anticipating what you knew was coming..tell your friend that it was us laughing at ourselves more than anything...From what I have heard, that clip took like 20 takes before the cast could stop peeing themselves...see if your m8 gets the four candles sketch

It wasn't discrimination or making fun of races, it was finding the fun in languages. Every language has certain characteristics, cadences, intonations etc. They picked the more obvious ones that most people could recognise. It was set in an english speaking country so that eliminated a lot of nations. Had it been set in an foreign language setting would you have been offended by someone doing the same with the American language? Or any other English speaking people. Personally, as a Brit, I think it would be hilarious. Of course it also made fun of the idiot who actually thought that would work and they would understand her. I'm a little surprised she didn't shout louder too, because that's what most English people do in that situation. To say it wouldn't fly today is sad. If you look for reasons to be offended you will find them, even when they are not there. Make sure you really understand what's going on and make up your own mind.
