Jack helped Dave’s brother after he was imprisoned for 18 years for gang murder, Jack dedicated his life to helping the lives of prisoners and ex prisoners, and was killed in a terrorist attack not long ago. Jack’s parents were in the crowd and they didn’t know Dave had added that part for Jack in the song. He mentions so many important thing like Grenfell and the Windrush generation, he made the whole of the UK silent when he performed and honestly the Brits peaked here.

Jack Merrit died in the London Bridge attack (along with the girl who they showed a picture of but I can’t remember her name I’m sorry. She was also part of a project with Jack they day they dried). He was very committed to helping ex offenders get back on their feet and even help Dave and His brother. RIP.
