The whale shark is a cultural symbol for Qatar. Qatar is home to one of the largest whale shark aggregations in the ocean. What the boy picked up was a pearl which the boy picked up and put into the sea, used to be their main source of economy before they found the oil.

Fun fact: the whale shark symbolizes Arabs, as a lot of people are afraid of shark whales thinking that they are going to hurt them just like they believe that Arabs are terrorists and extremists, but in reality, whale sharks are very friendly and kind to humans just like Arabs are welcoming and kind to people. Plus the singing, in the beginning, (Hala Hoo Hala) is what the men used to sing as they would row the boats to get pearls because that's how Qatar used to earn money before they found petrol.

Bro, you should sometimes go to Qatar. They have the most incredible sky scrappers in the world. You can see so many weird, unique and tall buildings that you have never seen in other countries.
