Tipping I think is pretty common around Europe, but not in the way it is in the U.S. I live in northern Finland, and as long as I have remembered, there's often been a small tip jar in grocery stores, cafes and so on next to the registers. I think it's been getting less popular over the years, as I don't see them often anymore outside of small establishments. Tips aren't expected, but they're a bonus. Usually it's small change
