Cola cubes are lovely! I lived off them at school back in the '80s. They're hard cola-shaped cubes covered in sugar with a chewy centre. They can cut your tongue if you get a sharp edge when they shatter as they were like glass. They also did them in pineapple flavour.

You are doing better than most because the yearly quizzes are happening at the end of the year so the knowledge the teams have is pretty current. The decades are very British centric and you can’t know what was big in the U.K. then. Just keep going. 🍻

I’m a little surprised that Spencer thought that Elton John was openly gay in the 70’s when he got married to a woman in the 80’s to quell speculation in the press about his sexuality. The bit in Trainspotting with the video tapes wasn’t a mix up, it was a purposeful switch done by Renton so that he could watch the sextape made by Tommy and his girlfriend. I remember Live Aid as being on a beautiful sunny day and all us kids out playing on the street but being able to hear bits and pieces because someone in the street had it on with the windows open.

I really like Phil as a person he's said in interview many times that he's just not fast enough to compete with modern comics on tv shows so he gets quite anxious on them which affects his performance. This style of show suits him a lot better.

Here’s a fun fact for you. Charles Dance read an extract from the autobiography of Chas Hodges of the “Rockney” duo, Chas & Dave, who you’d never heard of. But, I can guarantee you have heard their music before. Before they found fame in the U.K., they were session musicians who worked with Labi Siffre on a track called “I’ve Got The…”, which you may think is unfamiliar, but it was later sampled for Eminem’s “My Name Is”.

27:20 Treasure Hunt, a team of two in the studio were given a verbal clue to work out a location and send Anneka Rice in the helicopter to, when she got there and found the "thing" a new clue was opened in the studio and a new location to get to. All to be completed within the 45 or 50 minutes of the show. With the final clue location being worth the big prize.

Scotland has amazing food. Thr full Scottish breakfast is way better than the full English. Haggis is great. But be sure to try a deep fried Mars bar.

Deep fried Mars bars are not Scottish stop allowing the English stereotype. I'm a Scottish chef, I hadn't seen or tried a deep fried Mars bar till I moved away from Scotland, and it happens it was in England. The places in Scotland that do it now are either trying to get money from tourists or jumping on the social media bandwagon of them being Scottish, again so as to get money. Also they have been deep frying chocolate bars for years at American fairs. There is a Scottish food that will be claimed as English but is Scottish chicken tikka massala, the British national dish just like anything good from Scotland, it becomes British and thus English, but still the deep fried thing is nothing but a English stereotype.

US eggs are washed during processing, so we really don’t worry about salmonella. In the UK and Europe they treat the birds and don’t wash the eggs, which is also why they don’t have to refrigerate their eggs!

the eggs are "treated" by nature. Europe just doesn't wash that away. While the US drenches absolutely everything in chemicals. But both methods for eggs work equally good against salmonella, the EU version avoiding the risk from breaking the refrigeration chain (unnoticable by the customer) by not needing one. There was for example a today i found out episode on the topic.
