You'd have to watch the wonderful "Mighty Boosh" starring Noel Fielding, to get the 'crimping' music reference. It's completely surreal (in the truest sense of the word) and absolutely brilliant. It can take a while to tune into the madness but once you do, you're hooked! Series 1 is good but it really takes off from series 2 onwards. Series 2 contains the fantastic 'Old Gregg' episode, which has become legendary! Series 3 contains the 'crimping' episode, if you want to see where the reference comes from. :)

Have you seen David Mitchell's wife? Victoria Coren Mitchell? She is so far out of his league that he needs a telescope to look up that far. She's incredibly beautiful, but is the total opposite of David. She's brash, outspoken, tells things straight, takes no bullshit. She's upfront, argumentative, loud, boisterous. She made her money playing in world poker championships. Now she hosts one of the hardest quiz shows on TV. Then there is David. Well, as you know he's everything she isnt. Timid, reserved, and the only poker he's ever known is the ornamental fire poker at the side of his fireplace. Hahahahah

I had to pause the video to write this...Anyone can have their opinions about the music but the comment about Yorke devaluing the business just isn't true. Nothing could be further from the truth. They published their own music after they ended a notoriously bad deal from EMI prior to that. They subsequently released the album with XL records and championed them because they were giving better deals for indie artists. Since then Yorke has been one of the most outspoken against streaming services, particularly spotify which he described way back as "the last desparate fart of a dying corpse" and he still publicly criticizes them. The diminishing return on services like that is due to their gatekeeping NOT the complete opposite of that- taking control of your own product and distributing it through your own means. And the reason I find the comment from Lilly Allen doubly annoying is the fact that....her career took off by releasing music for free on MYSPACE so she is a massive hypocrite here. Though granted there is a difference in that Thom Yorke was already famous for being from radiohead whereas Lilly Allen was famous for being from Keith Allen's testicles. But no musician, absolutely no-one , no matter how ubiquitous is responsible for the decline of the music business in the way that's being discussed here. It's not even fair to criticize anyone for being at the top of a slippery slope. The slippery slope is like anything else in a technologically advanced capatalistic society. Levelling the problems that come along with that at a musician would be like blaming actors who star in netflix shows for the decline of cinemas. And in this case it's actually ironic given the remarkable about of action Yorke has taken to protect the interests of artists. Rant over, back to the comedy...

The Lord of the Rings was written mainly in the 1930s, so considerably earlier than the first Harry Potter book. Of a considerably higher literary quality too! Don't get me wrong, the HarryPotter books are great children's books bu the LOTR is one of the all-time classics of literature! It's a similar story with the films. The Harry Potter films are great kid's films, that adults can enjoy too but the LOTR trilogy of films are amongst the greatest films of all-time! :)

"Another reason to hate Radiohead: They devalued music." Only if the value you see in music is monetary rather than its value as art. Otherwise how can they devalue music by not making it all about profit? I'm confused on that one. Couldn't it be argued that the industry had even overvalued it? When you have labels taking 80% of the money, were you really paying for the artist and their music when you bought that CD or for the machine behind it that turned it into a soulless money farm, churning out the same mindless 4/4 loops, boy/girl bands and autotuned horrors endlessly? All Radiohead did essentially was release a free low-quality mp3 version of the album with an infinitely tiered donation link if you want to use it (Kinda like what you do with KZbin and your Patreon only less restrictive in pricing and less degrading to the quality of the free product). You can pay the artist anything from nothing to trillions (Or pay the standard price and get the high quality vinyl/CD/digital files like normal). The world was already well into downloading everything for free at that point, in fact despite giving the album away for free it's said that up to 70% of the downloads of those files were obtained through piracy sites anyway. You think if the album didn't have a free version that the worldwide trend for internet downloading would have stopped and overpriced CDs would remain as the primary official music medium? Anyway, it's far easier for an artist to be discovered and paid now than it ever was. We no longer rely on the industry to present their small curated selection to us, we have direct access to amazing musicians from around the world who are making a living off music that was impossible before music was "Devalued" and given back to the people. Besides, if you want to chase them then those big labels still exist and they are still pumping out millionaires on their conveyor belts, so what's changed other than smaller indie artists now get global visibility and *_some_* money rather than none?

This "zero gravity" phrase gets thrown about too much. It's one of my pet peeves. There's no such thing as zero gravity. Gravity is in every part of the Universe and its true that in some parts where there seems to be nothing there's only very tiny unmeasurable amounts of gravity and in other parts like the center of a black hole there's unmeasurable amount on the other end of the scale. So tiny amounts and big amounts but never zero.. You can't even experience zero gravity because gravity is always acting upon you. He experienced weightlessness.

What I love about living in the UK is our tolerance for people who are different. Well, the majority of us are. We've had openly gay actors ad tv presenters, guest show hosts, for years and for the majority of us just don't care. Even in my little out of the way tiny town that is wary of strangers don't mind gay people. I think mainly because we care such a small community there's bound to be a homosexual person in each family. As a child we had a friend of the family who was gay and also a lesbian friend, too. So it never seemed odd to me growing up. Being homophobic has to be taught to you. You are not born with a dislike of gay people. Some one has to tell you that it's wrong. And as England is not very religious there isn't anyone to tell us it's wrong. Because it isn't. Like I said I love living here.
