Drive to survive is a good entry point for new fans but older fans hate it because 90% of the drama is fabricated by mixing footage and team radios from different videos and guest commentary to make it dramatic

he's absolutely right about the max and jos stuff not even being remotely funny, so let me add a few more reasons to hate this man 1. gasly said that he remembered once during karting, he had gotten first place, pushing max down to second, jos started screaming at max in dutch and threw his helmet at him. i believe someone else said he would also insult him in English during international races just so everyone else would hear. 2. he bragged about not feeling bad at all for forcing max to race in the cold until he physically couldn't move his hands, then letting him inside only so he could warm up enough to keep racing. direct quote "he was like 'ah, I'm cold' and I would say 'ffff... shut up'" 3. in the same interview, he also said he had hit max's helmet so hard that all the mechanics were in shock like "what just happened?" 4. when max struggled to keep his head up because of a track that was hard on his neck and wanted padding in his helmet, jos called him a pussy and he has never used padding since 5. max casually mentioned his dad once stabbed a mechanic in a video after Ricciardo jokingly pretended to stab him 6. he has been arrested for running over his ex with the intent to kill her in addition to accusations of domestic assault 7. he has an assault charge for fracturing a man's skull the best thing that nightmare of a man did was almost burn to death in his car the fact that max has become such a kind and likeable person despite having a dad like that is why he's my favourite. 99,999999% of people with an upbringing like that would have become serial killers. he's not this talented because of his father, he's this talented DESPITE his father

The current drivers besides the older ones like Lewis,Alonso,Perez,.. all grew up together in karting so loads of funny memes of them as children battling with each other and 10 years later still the same. Besides my point but Jos verstappen is really something else and some strange people love to defend his behavior bc Max is one of the top drivers in f1 history and bc Max has had that mentality to win bc of his upbringing with his dad. Max's words = "second place is the first loser, it triggered me, it's how I grew up with my dad" but If those people knew what Jos has on his criminal record, here are some things he has done besides of course hitting&beating his own son, Jos has 3 assaults on his criminal record, he has broken a man's skull in a fight, he was arrested on attempted murder charges for trying to run his ex-girlfriend over with his car multiple times, his ex was taken by ambulance to hospital with heavy bruises and abrasions. Jos was previously accused several times of beating his girlfriend by locals in a hotel they stayed at, but 2 weeks later the case dropped, he has beaten his own old man(max's grandfather), he has threatened to kill his ex-wife(Max's mom) has hit her aswell, she got an restraining order against him,which he broke and got sentenced to 3 months in jail which he did, he has stabbed a mechanic when max was younger with a fork in the hand, He would turn violent and would break up the tent when Max would do not good enough in his eyes during Karting, ect... Max's mom raised his sister and Max would mostly be with his dad after the divorce bc his dad was a former f1 driver so he was very involved in making Max a machine in racing in very controversial ways of teaching a child. He was not a good dad but in a sense a very hard coach(perhaps good but debatable bc Pierre Gasly(current good f1 driver) recently recounted that when he was younger he saw Max's dad be extremely mad at max for not winning and basically trashed the tent and threw the helmet at max and was insulting max in both english and dutch, and much more things max himself has said or other people, and stuff that are behind closed doors.. At the end of the day he did make Max the beast he is in this sport so loads of different opinions on this, some people believe the harder the better driver, Max does talk to his father now and says his father was very hard growing up but did give up a lot to make sure Max went into f1, he said Jos tried to make verstappen 2.0 project, so he does at the end of the day appreciate his dad for the chances although Max himself has said he would not raise his kids the way he was raised and would advise them not to get into this sport. (These are all facts you can look them up for credibility.)(this was a little rant I'm sorry just don't like Jos at all,everyone around him knows he's very bad tempered not max of course he is a sweetheart)

The Alonso rookie story is wrong. The actual story is that when he wanted to come back from retirement in 2021, Alpine made him to run the rookie test at the end of last season so he can get used to the F1 car, so people started calling him a rookie because of it.

One example I can give you in detail was that Alonso being labeled as “a rookie” was not derived from his ability to drive at a top level well into his retirement age. It was derived in Abu Dhabi 2020, when he SOMEHOW was able to attend a Young Drivers Test ONLY for young drivers or UPCOMING ROOKIES who’s rarely or never driven an F1 car before, in order for him to get up to speed for the 2021 season after 2 years outside of F1. Alonso was nearly double the age of other drivers around him with over 17 years of F1 experience in comparison. We then labeled Alonso a rookie for 2021 but it stuck with him since. Nico Rosberg as “Britney” was from a German media labeling him as a “Britney look a like” back in 2006 at the height of Britney Spears popularity. Webber was his teammate back then which means he was facing the brunt of it. He then popularized the nickname amongst the drivers down the years.
