I was still in elementary, I think that was in 1962, when I went with my father to FEATI University where he was teaching electrical engineering & electronics engineering, for the Foundation Week celebration. That is where I saw the first video call. One end of the video call (traditional telephone set and probably 14" black and white television) was on the 4th floor, and the other end was in the electronics engineering laboratory on the ground floor. Also in the lab was a mini telephone central office; there, I saw the phone call connections being made by, I think five (5) Strowger switches, which moved up and around depending on the numbers dialed. I saw the images on the black and white television set next to the traditional phone set on the ground floor. That was supposedly the first video call. When I was in high school in 1965, I got a ride on a prototype hovercraft that was on a 5-ft diameter circular wooden body, with the noisy engine at the center. The hovercraft went up about 1 foot high and moved with not much control to the sides. Both were Dr. Zara's inventions.
