I imagine frozen is the default in Russia. For everything. If you want it not frozen, you have to do something to it. BTW, I used to live in Alaska. Alaska is the number one state in the US for ice cream consumption per capita. At first I was like, why do people want a cold snack a cold state? Then it hit me. Convenience. For more than half the year, it's not perishable, and you don't have to do anything to get it ready to eat.

@Bill Anderson As a russian i can assure you that Eric have a perfect russian prononciation. No accent at all. What bothers me is that all american snacks were developed in 60-70's (with abondance of sugar and artificial flavoring) and most of presented russians snacs existed waaaay before america was even rediscovered by spaniards in 1492 (except for syrok (for twinke) and marmelad (for oreo), that is relatively recent).
