I'm from Latvia, and we share a lot of stuff like this. and from what i've seen in this video, that stuff is really nice. and the thing about calories is really true. i gets cold here too, and we also get hungry really fast, so we eat a lot. not sure about drinks, but vodka is really nice too, but with those foods.

Cool, but I sometimes wish more Russian dishes were shown, generally it is always the same old ones, with some being the slightly weird stuff we ate during Soviet times. I can already think of so many off my head (although these are mostly home-cooked), like kompot, kulich/korovai (these are just different breads tho), authentic different rye breads like the famous Borodinsky, maybe baked duck with apple (a little over the top maybe), baked apple, of course SHCHI, the true national soup, NOT beet borscht, and there are several variations, zharkoye, these little dried fruit treats (forgot what they’re called but my great-aunt makes them), birch juice (this is actually bottled), several different varieties of porridge/kasha, as well as buckwheat dishes (which can be savoury and quite good, like merchant-style; buckwheat is also often used as a fusion between Russian and other cuisines, like buckwheat plov), golubtsi, the “ukha” (nowadays a fish soup), breaded fish (more regional, some are in a boat shape kind of), many unique ferments and pickled things, like sauerkraut, apples, watermelon, stuffed eggplant (sometimes called the mother-in-law’s tongue hahaha), and other things in addition to cucumber, several gingerbread varieties (like Tula), different jams (in some regions there is pine cone jam, it’s not bad), dried fish (sushik) in northern regions especially, monastery cake as well as other cakes like ant-hill cake, pasta navy-style, khren sauce (oh and Russia has her own mustard, but perhaps it was adopted from other cuisines, but still) cold soups like okroshka and botvinya, krupenik, and even some from different ethnic groups, like the Mari punch muno, which I grew up with, cheburek, from Tatar groups, indigirka salad and kierchekh from Sakha people, etc. etc. I went a little too long but these are some different examples, rather than the same over-used dishes or Soviet dishes. I have so much fun watching this as a Georgian 🇬🇪 because I know russian, most of the foods are not even russian. They're like Soviet Union foods. Most of the foods are in many other countries that were in the Union and it's just so funny. There is also a soup kon missed out on. It's called "mawvnis supi" in Georgian and idk how it is in russian but basically it's a soup mostly from sour cream

In live in Finland witch it next to Russian and over the centuries we have had lot's of cuisine influence from Russia, also Sweden. One of my favorite Christmas food is Red caviar, smetana (a type a of sour cream) and raw onion, together. It is so good !!!. Russian have it with their blins witch is also fantastic.
