The ship in front of Tower Bridge at 3.30 is the HMS Belfast a WWII Cruiser & Museum ship. Worth a visit, even though it is not as big as the US Battleship Museum's. If you are interested in Naval stuff I would recommend Portsmouth, several ships, submarines over in Gosport, and loads of fortifications, also Fort Nelson is good. The only problem with Portsmouth is you need several days to do it justice, though that is a good excuse to save money by getting a week pass to the Historic Dockyard (there's even a warehouse built out of captured French Warships)

@@DaydreamersBarn HMS was used to guard ships taking supplies to Minsk and Archangel in the USSR during WW2 with air planes , tanks, food etc etc via the Arctic ocean , the convoys were coded PQ going to Russia and QP for the return . There are some good books about the convoys in the Arctic Circle . HMS Belfast was supposed to fire it's guns to start the D-DAY invasion of France in WW2 but the guns didn't work so the ship next to it fired theirs 😂 but it did stay at it's station all day firing into france protecting the troops invading .

Hi again guys. Another great video. As usual, a few observations. Please don't think that I am being "picky". 😃 The name of the first station is Kings Cross, not Kings Crossing. Equally St Pancras is not pronounced "PancrEas" as in the mammalian organ. The wonderful Neo-Gothic front of the station was within days of being demolished some decades ago before it got an emergency Listed Building status which saved it. After disuse as a hotel it had been used as railway offices for many years then deserted before being sold. Following the sale a restoration project that lasted several years was undertaken. There is only one Tower Bridge. 😉 But to your eternal credit you did not refer to it as London Bridge as so many tourists do. Borough, as in Borough Market, is pronounced "buruh". Just so that you know, place names ending in -borough, -brough or -burgh are pronounced "bru" not "burrow" or "burro". King Charles I was executed on a specially erected scaffold outside the Banqueting House by beheading, not hanging. The view that you commented on was the entrance to Horseguards' Parade which is on the opposite side of the road. Next, an error that probably 95% of people make. What you called Big Ben is actually The Elizabeth Tower, previously named The Clock Tower but renamed in 2012 for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Big Ben is the name of the huge Hour Bell that hangs inside it. TWO FUN FACTS: 1 Big Ben was originally cast in a Bell Foundry at Stockton on Tees in N.E. England. Whilst on public display at ground level it cracked so badly that it had to be recast. This was done at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, the very same Foundry that your Liberty Bell in Philadelphia was also cast. 2. Obviously big bells cracking was something of an issue back in those days as the newly cast Big Ben cracked yet again shortly after being hung in its permanent position. The crack was small so it was cut out. The whole bell was then turned a quarter turn and the striking hammer was reduced in weight. It is the cut out part that gives the bell its very distinctive sound. Like I said, a great video. Keep them coming please! 👍

As a point of interest, the hotel at St Pancras was originally the 'Midland Hotel', built for the Midland Railway in the late 1800's. St Pancras was the terminus of the Midland Railway until 1923 when the Midland Railway was 'grouped' in with the London and North Western Railway, Caledonian Railway, the Furness Railway and the Glasgow and South Western Railway to become the London, Midland and Scotish Railway.

No such thing as a weed- only a plant in the wrong place. A rose bush in a cornfield is a weed, corn in a rose garden is a weed. The RHS have been advocating informal gardening for years, and are pushing for people to convert (large) lawns into flower meadows.

Next door to Barts is the king Edward the 7th building .It houses the national postal museum . Outside there's a statue of the man who came up with the idea of the postage stamp . Ever wondered why British stamps don't have the name of the country on them , but every other stamp in the world has the name of that country . A few yards down the street from there is the place where Marconi made the 1st voice radio broadcast in the world in 1903 . St Paul"s cathedral is about 100 hundred yds from there . St Paul"s was built by Sir Chrispher Wren , he built the fire monument you saw near London Bridge . He also built another 45 churches in London after the fire. Wren is buried inside St Paul"s . Inside St Paul"s there are memorials to Horatio Nelson , Duke of Wellington .Lawrence of Arabia and Winston Churchill . There's also the American chapel with a book with the names of 38,000 American servicemen who died while they were stationed in England .
