Unfortunately the person advising Korbin what to eat, though meaning well, didn't understand what to suggest. Indians make the mistake, because they are already used to their own food assume that everyone else will instantly like the taste of everything they taste. Also, do not overwhelm your guests with choices of items and dips. Idli and Vadas, many times by even good restaurants are quite hard and not very palatable. Mostly I introduce Dosas to foreigners and tell them to try with chutney. They take to that. Just introduce them slowly and gradually. Here this person was suggesting multiple dips, and the idli and vada looked hard.

The only thing I would say is that It would have been much better if somebody actually had shown them how to eat each thing instead of confusing them so much. You may eat dosa and sambhar(or whatever) in a different manner. This chain of restaurant here in Delhi where they went serves Rasam before every meal. Not only did you miss authentic south indian food which would have been explained way better by people from South. Also you missed one meal of Real North Indian Delhi food. Firstly, thank you "Our Stupid Reactions" for visiting India and appreciating our food. I highly appretiate your efforts and the time you have put in this. In India, every state has its own special food. For exploring the real taste you need to get into the streets in that respective state. South Indian foods are made much spicier and tastier in south Indian states. For example in Andhra the original food is "Pesarattu Upma". You must have got a taste but not the original taste. I say this as I was born in the southern part and have eaten south Indian food since birth from north and south Indian states.
