I am a member. Can you give any tips on training strong, hard working bred GSD. I use punishment, with all my dogs [A great many in the 50+ years I've constantly had a dog or 3]. at the level appropriate to the individual. But I'm struggling to be hard enough for THIS dog. I cannot convince her NOT to kill cats. She hasn't caught one yet, but "loses it" even if there might be one around!! NO trainers here. Scottish island.

Just want to say thank you for being an advocate for the prong and E-collar! I have literally had clients break down into tears after using a prong and realizing that they can have a great relationship with their dog without getting dragged down the road, getting an arm broken when they get pulled down ect... They are amazing tools when used correctly and can save and change lives! So thank you for being such a great advocate for the usage of tools that work! Love watching your videos, you have helped me improve some of my own techniques and picking out body language as a trainer too, keep up the awesome work!

I was uneducated about prongs when I got my first pitbull. My trainer highly recommended one but I was still skeptical. I did my own research and decided it was a good tool when used correctly and decided to give it a try. My dog is a completely different dog when she has it on during our walks. It’s amazing.
@un-lady-like2 жыл бұрын
@@KO-zi2xf absolutely! I have had so many clients over the years come in to a class being literally towed behind their dog. I have had quite a few clients come in after having an arm or hip broken because they were pulled down while trying to walk their dog... people offten come to me when they are at a point of being ready to give their dog up because they can't even walk them. So many have been made to feel bad for using a prong or have been fed so much incorrect info about the tool that they are super apprehensive about using it. Then they do and it is absolutely life changing! I'm so tired of seeing people judged and ridiculed for using a tool that has given them a whole new and amazing relationship with their dog. That is one of the reasons I love seeing the positive ways that Tom is showing just how great and effective proper tool usage is. People need to stop shaming dog owners for using the prong and e-collar.

@@un-lady-like sooo..I just got back from the pet store to return the extra prongs I bought today. The 16 year old cashier who is apparently a dog guru tried to lecture me about why these are bad and went out of her way to tell me she would never use one. Couldn’t believe it.

About a year ago when my bro decided to get a sport/activity dog, that has very high level of energy, I was quite sceptical of our knowledge and skill about dogs, and he was only watching what this breed is capable of. I was kinda afraid that we aren't able to give the dog what it needs to be wealthy. So I stumbled on this channel. And a year later now we both learned leadership and how to act with a animal. I've learned sooo much, that I have the feeling that we took the dog from a trainer. I'm amazed and thankful for what you guys are doing, so keep improving cuz its totally worth the time and effort! Thanks!

As I'm sure many people in the comments section have said, I thank you for showing us how to correctly use an ecollar, as it is a total game changer when used at the right moments and levels. In my journey training my fear reactive 9 month old cattle dog, I've found my voice, the ecollar, and a lot of good treats to be a complete game changer in taking a dog who spent many months barking at any new person or dog, desperately trying to get them to go away, and helping her become happy and confident enough to be touched by new people or sniffed at by other dogs.

I’m hoping that I win the E-collar because she always runs off into a street and I’m afraid that she’s going to get hit by a car. If she does my parents don’t have the money to pay for any surgery but with the E-collar I have a opportunity to reduce the chances of her getting hit.

Thanks Tom for the clarification between the top ring and dead ring on the prong collars. I got my 75lb husky/shepherd cross a Herm Sprenger prong collar a couple months back. As a small woman, I was having troubles controlling him when he would get excited on walks. He would always want to greet other people and dogs which is not always appropriate depending on the situation. My trainer told me to clip the leash to both rings, since my dog isn't aggressive. However, I've noticed that he often doesn't respond to corrections on the leash and now I know why. Thank you for this great educational video. I always learn so much.

We are working with a trainer now, who had us start walking him on a martingale instead of a harness and he has already shown improvement. I am pretty sure she is going to move us to a prong soon, which I would've been totally against before but it is hard to argue with the results we are starting to see.

Thank you for the videos that you continue to put out there. I like that you take no stabs at other training methods and adjust to each dog based on the owner/dog relationship you observe. You understand that tools only help and a heavy reliance on it can be detrimental. The majority of us can learn from this especially those desperately looking for a “magic” tool for a behavior adjustment. Guided relationship building with the right amount of using the tools are the takeaways from your videos.

I just came from another video where it took five days for the owner to get their new shelter dog to wag their tail, under the shelter's trainer. In five minutes, I saw you read a similar dog, and take them gently to a happier state of mind. Wow, just wow! You're like with "one" with understanding dogs - a jedi master!

I love this. My pup has major outside anxiety and is always on alert like Molly. Videos like this help me so much. Constant training. ¡Muchas gracias!

Finally took a look at the prong color that we used for our GSD who is now passed and realize while it’s not sharp the edges are blunt and not rounded which does actually kinda make them a bet uncomfortable. Definitely going to purchase a new one from you website when I get a pup

I wish more people praised their dogs when they do what we ask of them. Tom, great knowledge share and advice in this video.
