The reason ratings are down is that streaming games illegally is more prominent with the nba. Football puts a morning afternoon and evening game on Sundays. Thursday night on prime and espn for MNF. If you have a tv, you have Football games. I have KZbin TV and there are times when multiple fans are on and I don't have access to any.

True, also it's becoming increasingly difficult to take the NBA product seriously with the extent of dodgy ref'ing.....the lax and frankly uneven playing field in the application of fundamental rules of basketball such as carrying, moving screens, travelling and leading arms, aka the Lebron special, coupled with modern spacing (don't get me wrong I love Curry, but his greatness is partly to blame for this) and finally the collusion that went on the in modern era, it's just not a good look and people have noticed for a long time and they just get over the clown show and I suspect the fanbase will continue to drop like flies.

The ratings are not down because of streaming. Even if this were the case, it's still bad, at best it'd mean the NBA fanbase is completely stagnant, doing nothing but shuffling its viewers from one platform to another and isn't growing at all, let alone seeing a boom like the NFL and college football are. But how we know it isn't the case is Silver has been having to answer questions about this, to explain the decrease (from the networks that signed huge TV deals with the NBA), and while we don't have access to streaming data, Silver does, so if this were the explanation he'd have said so and not given lame answers like saying how good their numbers are on IG and Twitter, and blaming things like the election, world series and the Paul vs Tyson fight (all these are over and the ratings continue to decrease btw).

The NBA will not let any young stars get more attention that LeBron. Look at the nationally televised games. All old guard. Sure there are some talented older players in the league, but you have to start highlighting the younger generation if you want to keep the ball moving forward. The NBA built their entire brand around LeBron, and now they are stuck with him as his play and popularity decline. LeBron and the Lakers have been a huge disappointment, and yet LeBron and the Lakers is all the media and NBA will talk about. The NBA and LeBron created the current situation we are in.

If a breakdown vid I saw of the Grizzlies is anything to go by, if Ja gets hurt again, they’ll be okay. The Grizzlies have the LOWEST Pick & Roll usage in the entire league by nearly 40%. In a league in love with the 3 ball by using pick & rolls to get open looks - the Grizzlies are being more efficient with what they’re doing. Instead of Pick & Rolls, they use their superior Athleticism to force double teams or get layups at the rim and do that within 7 seconds. They’re shooting higher percentage 2-pointers, while still finding those open 3-balls when there, all while having a higher pace offense that is even faster then the 8 seconds or less Steve Nash Suns. Their offense has caused issues for older teams like the Lakers & Warriors. Whether this will result in a championship is still up in the air, but I think they’ve found something that could shake up the league if it does.

Stats look amazing but Memphis has ZERO shot to stay with a team like Boston for 7 games. Zero chance. It's the consistency of play and building team rapport. They've got great physicality, top-grade talent, and youth to sustain years of success... But their "leader," Ja, hasn't hit his stride yet. He's equally amazing yet also sort of all over the place - one day he's pointlessly trolling a HC(!?) and dominating at the rim scoring at will, the next he's giving up dunking& passing first every possession like a small Doncic on his low-scoring days. Boston has a set-in-stone defensive identity and almost as defined offensive identity, too, like a routine.
