When they started the Podcast, Jake was still referencing the Rosenberg twins as his best friends. In more modern episodes whenever he talks about his best friend, he always says Amir. Besides their wives, they are probably closest to each other.

I hadn't thought of amir in 15 years - i suddenly felt an urge to watch this guy do stand up - and now I'm here. The fact that FIFTEEN YEARS later I have come here I think is enough to say that Amir NEEEEDS to do standup..

Well, the main joke is that he’s proud of his secret driving techniques that ultimately only save him two minutes on a six-hour drive. And then there’s the classic stereotype that Californians never shut the fuck up about traffic.

I had the same experience. A band open mic where I tried stand up for the first time. It went so poorly I vowed to never do stand up again. A year later I got into the stand-up community, started performing again. My best routine was the one I did that for at night, I just could see now how terrible the circumstances were.

Everyone thinks they can do stand up. There are people like this at every open mic and it’s always great to hear them with all the confidence in the world before they go up and then they slink out the door afterwards back into the night never to be seen again.

Mad impressed tho. If you do it and bomb, you're still braver than everyone in the audience
@samlibutti3 жыл бұрын
@@darcybhaiwala7057 oh yeah totally. There are some people though that are just so over confident and cocky about it it almost feels like an insult. “Like oh that? That’s probably so easy and I bet I’m better at it than all of you without having even thought about preparing for this moment!” So I always appreciate those people getting their comeuppance.

@neontime85074 жыл бұрын
I’m just glad my first time doing standup went great. My second time got standup banned from that particular annual event but still got enough people laughing so it didn’t destroy me despite bombing. My third time got some chuckles but most of it kept the small audience completely silent. I’m still not sure if any of my new material is worth trying out when things go back to normal nor am I certain I’ll try again. It sucks that Amir’s first time went so spectacularly poorly. I wonder how many people could have gone on to become great standup comics but didn’t because their first time poisoned the prospect.

Ironically the self aware “nervous Jew” crack had me dying more than his actual jokes lol. I think Amir could definitely do stand up but he would have to prepare to eat shit quite a few more times before he got good. Also he would have to go to a comedy club and not a music show lmao.

Thomas is perfectly suited to improv. Amir is perfectly suited to a comedy duo with Jake. It’s so scary to think how close they both were to never realizing their potential
