It was bangin guys ! I'm thinking 12 out of 10 ! Pure and flawless ! Powerful and emotionally felt by all ! This is the finest version I have ever heard in my 70 years of music ! It's going to be the standard for years to come ! The magnificent orchestra , pipes and choir made this song come alive and Amira's voice rose above all of that ! Everyone is always amazed at how effortlessly she sings. Have to keep in mind she is also an incredible athlete who's specialty is long distance and cross country running. Her lung power is just beyond most young persons. Even at 8 years old she was running and winning both the girls and boys races.

You commented that Amira sings "spot-on" - that was the comment by Arnold Coleske, when she first sang in the Coleske brothers studio. He took her, in 2017, (and Deveraux van der Hoven-Oosthuizen, and her husband (who plays an electric guitar in the orchestra), plus Charl du Plesis, who is the Steinway agent for South Africa, and the pianist for the "Classics is Groot" concerts - and whom you will meet again when you get to her 2020 Streaming concert) to Prague to record her third album with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

@@wajj1842 Goodness me! An Australian having to explain English to an Englishman? In 2017, Arnold Coleske and his brother were the heads of "Coleske Artists" (Pretoria, South Africa). Coleske Artists ran the concert series "Classics is Groot" (Classics are Great), aimed at the white SA population of Johannesburg and Pretoria. In 2017, they offered Amira a recording contract, since her previous contract with SONY had expired - three years is the maximum duration for a contract with a minor in either SA or The Netherlands. As you are aware, Amira was 13 at the time, so no, she was not married. As a result of Arnold Coleske being impressed by Amira's audition with him, still in 2017, he took Amira and her mother and her manager (Mike Fuller), together with a number of the key members of his staff, i.e. Deveraux der Hoven-Oosthuizen (the Musical Director for Coleske Artists), Juan Oosthuizen (her husband), and Charl du Plessis, all to Prague, where Amira recorded her third Album "With all my Heart" , with the Czech National Philharmonic Orchestra. Amira is still not married, at 18. I hope this clarifies things for you.

BP1's reaction associating it with America is not unusual. It was the song popularised by the Civil Rights Movement. Reports say that it was sung at every rally that Martin Luther King Jr held. Apart from the fact, that the lyric writer John Newton - no relation to Isaac - originally a slave trader became an abolitionist and wrote hymns, including this one, to be sung at his services. Lots of coincidence there. Amira's singing of course was ethereal..lovely reaction!

She's a superstar, and that's everything you need to say, really. Perfect every single time. Knocks your head off every single time. She's definitely set the bar for how this song is performed, but I can't honestly say that I love this more than PTX's version. They're both 10's for me. They are different versions in every possible way, not only lyric wise, but also in mood. Amira's is hauntingly beautiful, and PTX's is almost gospel in style. Very different all around. I do think, however, that Amira's version is the one that 'speaks' to most people. #endramble

@@delloso6205 PTX are Pentatonix. They're predominantly an acapella group (5 members) who sing both covers and original songs. 95% of their stuff is pure vocal and vocal percussion/instrumentation. Their version of 'Amazing Grace' is full acappela. It has more of a gospel feel to it than Amira's more traditional version. I genuinely can't place one over the other, both are fantastic.

I believe the song/hymn was written by an American slave trader, who had a revelation and saw the error of his ways. It is very popular in the US. Judy Collins had a big hit with it in the early 70s, and the Scottish dragoon guards dud a cover of it, which is why it's usually associated with bagpipes now. I always thought Judy Collins version was the best until I heard Amira give it the treatment. A lot of Amira's songs build and develop as they progress, the pauses, though doubtless necessary, interrupt their crafted shape. Which is a shame. I hope you listen to them uninterrupted later, to get the intended flavour. Her song Hallelujah builds, Bolero style, and would not carry so well chopped up. Other goodies to consider....Her Nessun Dorma, form this same show would be considered a banging tune. Amira gives it more welly than her HGT appearance at 9. She also sang The Flower duet, with Corlea Botha. It is more operatic but exquisite. Gabriella's Song, sung in Swedish shouldn't be missed, or her Nella Fantasia - Live performance in 2016. Keep them coming fellas!
