Within the past couple of years, I’ve gotten much more comfortable expressing myself. It helps to remind myself that I feel good about it, and it’s not actually interfering with mine or anyone else’s life, but there are almost no goth, alt, etc, people where I live so I still sometimes struggle, knowing I will be 1 of the extremely rare spectacles and get a lot more stares in public. I really admire people who can just freely be themselves, not for attention or to be quirky, just to live their best life

The girl with the ukulele reminded me of something dumb I did in high school. I found a Toy Story Ukulele at Goodwill, bought it, and bought a toy snake. I put the toy snake in the Ukulele all to make the joke “there’s a snake in my Uke”. Everyone would see the Ukulele and assume I could play, and I’d have to explain I bought it solely to make a pun.

It would be fascinating to see someone who actually just *was* like an anime character xD Doing those insane exaggerated movements and expressions, then when you tell them "stop acting like an anime character" they're like "what's an anime character?" xD

As someone who unfortunately has hiccups so loud that people in the back of the store I used to work at could hear above the Christmas madness, I FEEL for the other loud hiccup-er. It is actually quite painful and leaves my ribs aching tremendously. I really am not doing it on purpose and wish I could have normal hiccups like everyone else. According to my mom, the nurses were able to hear me hiccup in utero and it made them laugh. So, there's that.

There was one girl in my grade who was quirky in all these ways. Bit people, hissed, had magic potions (usually jars of salt) that she’d snack on in class and claimed to see people’s auras because she was a witch. A year after graduation she got diagnosed with schizophrenia lol

Had a neighbor with one of those “big green egg” grills, and he would end up sounding like Quagmire talking about his big green egg grill and what he was cooking on it. He even had an overpriced stereo and listened to NPR on it.

My therapist told me I was fun and delightful to be around, so I showed up for a seminar in a denim dress and LL Bean boots. Everyone else was in silk and pearls. Worse yet, it was hellishly hot and I had to take the boots off to get cool. Not that kind of cool ...

Man, I sneeze when I'm outside; it's a NIGHTMARE. And I'm the only one in my family who does it so they always joke about it. I'm usually sneezing up to 4-5 times before I'm settled. One time, 10 times, my family was counting them in front of a Walmart. "ONE! TWO! THREE!" I found out later on they were all betting on how many times I would sneeze and they all lost.

I went to school with a girl that legit thought she was the real life reincarnation of Bella Swan. I thought at first she was just a major fan of the series but nope. She was 18 and was in the process of having her name legally changed to Bella Swan and said that as soon as she made enough money she was moving to Forks Washington to find Edward and become a vampire. I really hope she got help

Back in high school another student faked mental illnessnes and claimed she was “asymptomatic” 🫠 When i confronted her and said it wasn’t okay because it made people stop listening to us, people who genuinely have mental health problems, she said “you’re just jealous that I don’t have any symptoms.” She commonly claimed to have schizophrenia, eating disorders, ADHD, homicidal ideation and anxiety.
