Seen that time and again. To save money an incoming superintendent ran off the seasoned, long term teachers with ties to the community and replaced them with Teach for America staff. These inexperienced people with no community ties usually move on in two years to pursue non-teaching careers. Also, pay scale is based on years of service so this guy figured it was a BOGO. What a bargain that was. No continuity and reliable staffing for the long run. He didn't last long but long enough to really damage the school system.

Last story: The NERVE of that new administration for demanding she return all her personal property and especially the new principal for stealing her office chair and getting angry with her for taking it back. A lot of those office chairs can get really expensive (even into the upwards of thousands of dollars) if they're therapeuticically designed and have an hour rating on them. The new principal is lucky that she didn't get the police called on her for that. Personally I wouldn't have been anywhere as patient or pleasant as the OP was if that was my personal property. This just goes to show that you need to be careful about buying things for work out of your own money though and why it's important that you hold onto your receipts to prove ownership lest your organization or colleagues try to claim them for themselves.

HR was lucky the OP even answered, I would have just ignored them completely. I don't work there anymore and I got all my personnel things out of there so there isn't anything tying me to them. Would be nice to find out what happens when summer rolls around and none of the teachers are available to teach summer school.

This story is both incredibly funny and very sad at the same time. I will be entering my 5th year with a public school and it will always come down to politics at the end of the day. I wish the OP best of luck on his future endeavors, glad the horrible end to his school year (shared by many in different ways) didn't discourage him from quitting education altogether.

School systems just suck. The revenge that this OP got was hilarious and golden. They even tried to set things up for the next school year/term, but trying to steal all their things, particularly the chair, was totally uncalled for. The new staff/admin being dicks to the OP didn't help things either. It almost seemed like they wanted to get the OP in trouble or even fired. I laughed so hard when the OP took away all their items (as they should've) and the admin basically cried/demanded in order to try and get back. Its a big reason why you should always get your money back for items you bring into your workplace.... if they expect to use/keep it. OP isnt a jerk at all, but the new staff/admin sure are.

I encouraged my wife to quit her job as a daycare teacher and get a completely different career. She was being overworked and they were taking advantage. The daycare director was at fault. She was cost cutting everywhere which bugs me since the owner (her sister) is the one that benefits from the cost cuts unless she was embezzling. After my wife left and through some come contact with her previous coworkers, we managed to find out that it took four new hires to cover all responsibilities my wife did. And the daycare ended up losing certain grants because no other teacher in the daycare had the training certificates to alllow the daycare ro continue those grant programs.
