Sheesh, anyone who thinks having a child will fix their relationship needs a serious reality check. I feel for the guy. I have (actual) OCD, and his wife's behaviors really sound like it. Unfortunately, the more you enable OCD by giving into the compulsions, the stronger it gets. She needs professional intervention. I don't see how she's going to work in the medical field if she has such strong anxiety over germs and contamination.

The story with the excessive hand washing- OP said his wife is trying to get into nursing school. From what he’s saying, I don’t think she could handle working in the healthcare field. Some may say that she might be cut out for it because of her pristine infection control but her’s may be a little too obsessive. Nurses get all types of shit (no pun intended) all over them all day long. We take measures to protect before and clean after but I could see OP’s wife not being able to get “clean enough” just my opinion on the matter
@nekosurvivalist9 ай бұрын
Yeah. It really sounds like OPs wife has severe OCD and more than likely wouldn't survive in the Healthcare industry. It also sounds like OPs wife in that story is trying to follow in mom's foot steps of being a gold digger.
@erictrester28832 жыл бұрын
Wait, so the clean freak wants to get into nursing? I don't think that's gonna work out for her. My wife has literally come home with other people's vomit, blood, and crap on her. She's told me some of the most disgusting hospital and nursing home horror stories since we've been together. It really takes someone with a strong stomach to do that line of work and I don't see someone who demands her husband shower and change his clothes after going outside having what it takes.

My mom used to work in a nursing home, and because she sometimes never had a babysitter, she would take me with her (I was about 5 at the time) because the elderly folks always loved to see me. So I would normally just wander around the bingo hall, getting candy from the elderly and playing their cards for them when they had to go to the bathroom. I never saw the worst of it, but my mom would sometimes go home covered in all manner of bodily fluids and...not so fluids. So it's definitely not for the faint of heart, even when it's not just elderly folk you're taking care of.

Story 4: Please note that your view that everyone should have a Driver's License is more specific to the US. I find that as someone living in the UK, using public transport to get around is usually an acceptable option as well.
@carmenvazquez57842 жыл бұрын
Not when you expect someone else to ferry your entitled butt everywhere at your convenience! The girl is providing free chauffeur duties -- meaning SHE pays for gas, wear-n-tear on her car, car insurance, etc. while he sits back and enjoys the ride. Plus he is her boss, meaning that he can threaten to fire her or make her working life difficult. That is just NOT RIGHT!!!
@RickBentsen2 жыл бұрын
As someone in the US who is legally not allowed to get a license (I'm legally blind and therefore pretty sure no one wants me behind the wheel...) I wish public transport was better in the US. But unless you live in a major metro area, public transport isn't really that great. I hate being so dependent on others for rides. Worse, I hate being looked at as a second class citizen because I don't drive. That being said, I don't abuse the whole "I need a ride" thing. I offer gas money and I ask rather than expecting. ANd if I can get away without asking someone for a ride, I do. This dude, though, just reeks of being an entitled jerk. I get the feeling he isn't getting a license because he LIKES being driven around.

Yeah I’m 27 living in Australia and many of us don’t drive and just use public transport. Car, insurance, fuel, repairs, tyres, licence, rego, etc are all very expensive. When I get nervous or really panicky, I start to laugh and laugh hard. To the point that I just stop functioning at all. It's quite dangerous for me and can be for others depending on what I'm doing when it hits. Actually Walmart stores have a history of treating their employees terrible, my roommate worked for 4 months before quitting because they made her work for more hours that she didn’t agree to and wasn’t paid for those extra hours. In fact they didn’t pay their new hires for four weeks. However there are very few Walmart stores who treat their employees with respect and well. This guy got lucky with his job. My Walmart has a history of being mean to employees especially employees who have worked there for so long. My friends father was told he couldn’t attend his mothers funeral because nobody would take his shift even though he talked to one of his coworker and agreed to take the shift. He went anyway and didn’t get fired. Someone went to HR and got one of the managers fired but there where other managers who where still mean but where told if they didn’t change they would be fired too. Though that was before Covid. Let’s just say most got fired and taken to the hospital.

Why is that dude worried about killing the chicken when he wasn't even the person that ran it over? If's not his fault it was in the road. It got out of his way, and git hit by someone ELSE'S car. Why would that be his fault or get him in "serious trouble?" Sounds like locals there would just be willing to take advantage of a clueless visitor to their country, spinning the situation to make him pay up. Also if they really cared that much, the chicken wouldn't be left in the road until the next day. It would have been eaten or buried or at least thrown away, most likely to some dogs or other animals.

Story 4 just motivates me to move out of North America and not to a rural part of any country even more than I was already motivated to... I'm 26 and don't have a driver's license (which is honestly more of a right than a privilege in North America). But, I don't have it because of my vision problems. And though I know that can't be changed, this story just reaffirms my thoughts about me being a nuisance or whatever else for everyone around me who can drive. And, taking Uber or a taxi for all places is expensive, so yeah, that's not an option.
@LilAngelPrincess952 жыл бұрын
I'm also 26 without a license. I did try to get a motorcycle license when I was 23/24 but it didn't work out. Wiped out pretty bad during the safety course and had a hard time regaining the confidence to try again. Never went out much as a teenager so didn't really have the erge to get one. I have drove a car around a parking lot at work so know how in theory but it makes me super nervous. The biggest reason now that I keep putting it off is driving school costs money (no way would I just take the test without taking a class with practical teaching) and knowing that the second I have one the insurance on my car (I do have a car with my parents the primary drivers so they pay their insurance rates) I take over the insurance at a new driver rate that is super expensive. I'm not sure if I'm even cut out to drive. I've never gone over 30km/h and that feels too fast for me. I didn't like the way the narrator said that not having a license at that age was unacceptable as everyone has different circumstances. It IS wrong to expect those around us to drive us unlicensed whenever we want and get mad if they can't though.
@raisak.62622 жыл бұрын

If you're lucky enough to get into a field where you can do well grats on you, but should probably check out videos from Camelot on just how bad Walmart is. As someone who's worked in the retail world it always starts out fun and enjoyable with fellow work friends, after 11 years it's not always the same people though, people leave and change, and the one thing that does not change is how much the company can get away with not paying you for. Last story about the chicken, i can confirm that in small places especially rural areas, you'll get yourself in trouble if you ever unalive an animal, especially farm animals. I saw in the comment someone mentioned that you'll have to pay a lot if you unalive a rooster because they're especially bred for fighting, HOWEVER, I assure you you'll be in more trouble if it's female, because the owner will consider "possibilities" into the equation. Let's say you unalive a lamb, it will then be counted on how old the lamb was, based on average how long it can live, how many more baby lambs it would bear and how much they can sell for each, etc etc. Honestly it's just stupid. i wondered with my brother once, "Why couldn't we just buy that person another lamb? that would have solved the whole problem". but that's not the point, the point is they wanna get money.

Well that's the donkey calling another an ass, now isn't it? How can you cheat on your wife with another woman and call your first family a disgrace? That seems rather hypocritical. My father also has a second family (somewhat), but it's not out of being unfaithful. It's more of, his mother pushed him around and didn't think my mom was good enough for him, so they never got married and after some time he sort of found himself in another relationship. We don't talk much, but that's only because he's super busy (he works with the local ambulance and is sort of running around and dealing with hospitals most of the day and is booked for most of the week). He still wishes me well on birthdays, holidays, and I wish him the same on all manner of celebratory days. I get along with his wife too and my half sister, but my half brother is a different story. I just don't understand the idea behind cheating. If it's not working out, don't be the ass and try to live a double life by cheating, just own up to it. Go your separate ways and at least try to leave on a positive note if possible.

Story number 2... A friend of mine is divorced now because she found out about her husband's second family. He was a cross country truck driver. His wife (my friend) was in Florida, the second family was in Alabama. Unfortunately for him, he put my friend's name on his truck driving business, she owned half of the company, and did the books. She started seeing extra expenses on the books. I didn't say I told you so, but I gave the look. Her 4 children with him are his 16th thru 20th children. He has been making baby mommas since he was 15. Most kids don't know who their father is (several were Olympians). Last I heard he has 24 kids total. But that was a decade ago, when they divorced. Being a truck driver it was easy to hide a second family in another state. However hiding another family in the same town, or county would be hard, same state not as hard, but not easy. Eventually the truth comes out, and everyone gets hurt. If you want to leave your wife, just get a divorce and leave; but understand you created those children and you are obligated to help take care of them, and provide for them. They love you, don't destroy that just because you are not in love with their mother anymore. Don't cheat on your spouse, just get a divorce. And be ready to pay alimony, and child support. You want to wander, you pay the price. 👵☮️🖖

I mean the person could try to explain their absence as being “away on business” but that would require them to be away at least 50% of the time to divide the time they spend with either family before you factor in the amount of time they have to spend actually working in order to afford to help pay to bring up two families. Also wouldn’t it raise suspicion that he’s gone about 5 days a week but is only bringing in half the cash you would expect someone to make working 3 days a week?..

The story about the boyfriend getting upset their girlfriend wasn't mad about him potentially cheating; it sounds like he just has a thing for that. He thrives off of the idea his current gf might get upset that he's being unfaithful. So when she doesn't, he just feels defeated. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up breaking it off. He clearly wants a boiling pot ready to bubble over for him. Also, the germaphobe wife wants to become a nurse? If she loses her mind over going outside and has to personally disinfect food and products brought into the house, she is not going to last very long as a nurse.

In the fourth story, to *ALL* of the Reddit commenters who are saying that it is not normal for a 26 year old to have a driver's license. There are *PLENTY* of people who have *NEVER* had a driver's license. Und there are *PLENTY* of reasons why they don't.

Having a kid in an already shaky relationship, often, if not always never improves the relationship. It just puts more strain on the couple, so that was a poor rationale on his part, unless, his logic was they have a kid and need to make it work in a 2 parent household for the child's sake. Even then it wouldn't have saved the relationship. Next, it's glaringly obvious that the wife has a form of OCD, and the reason she's struggling through nursing school is how her OCD is affecting her ability to deal with the contamination aspects that nursing students and nurses encounter in patient care. She needs a psychiatrist and therapy for the OCD and the OP and his wife needs couples therapy to help them decide what to do next.

Didn't get my license until I was 20 because I couldn't find a place that wanted to hire someone with no work history. Didn't need or want a job before I was 18. So my grandmother left me a small amount of life insurance and I decided to get a cheap car with it in order to help me get around to find a job. So yeah, that guy is just lazy.

I'm 34 and I don't have a driver license D: (I'm kind of afraid of cars a bit because of some stuff that happened during my childhood. Thanks dad! Also, we're not obligated to get it where I live), however, I've spend years mapping my city and the public transport in it to always know what I need to go somewhere and how long it'll be. I would never force someone to drive me somewhere.

For Story #4: I don’t have a license because I have seizures and ADHD and I can’t afford to buy a car or pay for insurance so when I get together with my friends I ask my friend who can drive rather politely if he can give me a ride and I always offer to pay for gas which he says is unnecessary.

Story with the wife and hand washing sounds like OCD :( he shouldn't divorce her, instead try to convince her to get therapy and then look for a good therapist with her, before it get's worse.
