Last story - honestly, I don’t think the guy is in the wrong at all. It sounded like she was testing the waters and deliberately trying to make him jealous, trying to get a rise out of him. The best thing to do is nip that nonsense in the bud before you’re being made a fool of left, right and centre. Also, he did say specifically he took her to one side to have it out, so it wasn’t in front of the whole family, whereas her behaviour was.

Last story: ah the female bias appears once again. No OP does not need to apologize. It is simple, it was his mother’s birthday. His gf bought a random guy he did not know to the event. Then she ignored his wishes for space. That is disrespectful as heck. How? Let me explain. 1) guys and girls can be friends. But I firmly believe that both partners need to know the other’s friends of the opposite sex. OP did not know it, so yeah. 2) She invited someone OP did not know to a family based event. What if the friend had issues with the family or other traits? 3) what happened to no means no? OP said he needs space meaning “no” to any interaction as of now. Yeah this is clear bias against OP imo

For #3 I can’t stand “you can’t talk to grown ups/parents like that” stuff. You’re allowed to stand up to abusive parents. You’re allowed to stand up for yourself no matter who it is, parents, boss, elders, family, etc. Especially when they’re abusive like op’s mom is. That “you can’t stand up to parents” mentality really needs to end, it makes it harder for people to stand up to abusive partners in the future

Last Story: Yeah, you protect her until the genders are reversed. How would you feel if a man started following a girl that constantly says she wants to be alone? Answer, police. The narrator definitely needs to actually understand that woman does not equate to not being bad. This story could be so different with so many different outcomes that could definitely have escalated to more than a break up. Girl invites man to a family birthday without telling anyone. Starts demanding to argue with her boyfriend. Ignores his requests and boundaries and follows him home. Result: possible break up or going to therapy. Gender reversed situation: Man invites girl to a family birthday without telling anyone. Result: he’s a jerk. Starts demanding to argue with his Girlfriend. Result: he’s creepy, a jerk, and maybe dangerous. Ignores her request and boundaries and follows her home. Result: police arresting him, or people thinking he’s dangerous and might wanna hurt or do something bad to the girl. Man invites girl to a family birthday without telling anyone. Starts demanding to argue with his Girlfriend. Ignores her request and boundaries and follows her home. Result: 99% chance of being arrested or everyone calls him a jerk and everybody hates him. See how different everything went from simply changing a woman to a man and a man to a woman?

@diegoironfistlacayo847310 ай бұрын
1st story: I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't propose to someone else's wedding. EVER!!!! Proposing at someone else's wedding can be considered disrespectful and inappropriate. It is important to respect the couple's special day and not overshadow it with your own proposal. If you're planning to propose, it's best to choose a separate occasion that is focused solely on you and your partner.
@QuickManEXE Жыл бұрын
Story 1: I dont get why people do that at weddings.... it is literally the single worst time/place to do that. I also don't get why people that do that don't get beaten up for it too.... and that crazy former friend definitely seems like he's in need of a roughing up, both for the wedding incident and his subsequent actions at the friends house after. That guy is a complete idiot and im surprised everyone didn't go zero contact with him and block him on everything. He is totally not worth it. Story 2: No way is the OP the jerk here. The OP gave very clear warning to the BIL and his son about the size of the steak meal and that if he couldn't eat it, he'd be paying for it. No ones fault here but the BIL and the son. Tomahawk steaks are HUGE, and a lot of high-end places will make you pre-pay for them... and they had a bunch of sides too. Something like that is almost a platter for 3-4 people, there's no way the kid is going to eat it all, unless he is like 450 lbs. Story 3: OP is absoluteuly not a jerk here. The mother here totally failed as a parent here. She seemed to do next to nothing in terms of raising those boys, especially if the OP had to do so much for them... willing or not. If the boys can't (won't) clean up after themselves, then they are just way too lazy, OP shouldn't have to do it or be expected to. Hopefully the OP is able to move out of that household soon and go no contact with them. Screw the mom. The mom should've been yelled at. Story 4: Simple solution here... cut this crazy mother out of your life and 100%. You had to deal with her as a kid, and that's bad enough, but you're an adult now and moved away... you don't need her or her attitude around you at all. Story 5: OP needs to ditch their partner and yesterday. This girl is crazy and i would say very likely to be cheating on the OP here. That would thing of inviting the other guy seemed intentional, there's no way it was just a coincidence. OP needs to split up with her.

Third Story: OP is NTA. She is being parentified by her toxic mom for her spoiled brothers. My siblings and I were more self sufficient by age 11. And OP’s boyfriend and friend are stupid, OP needs to dump them for siding with the mom. Also, OP is 22 and needs to get out of that house. I’ve known people who have gone through what OP did, and only by leaving for good did they break free and the parents realized they failed the remaining lazy/spoiled/useless siblings.

The girl who had to take care of her brothers: gurl run, you need better friends. Parentification is basically abuse and her mother expected her to raise her brothers. Her mother was just lazy and didn't want to fulfill her duty as a mother. OP absolutely should not apologize to her mother and frankly, anyone who doesn't realize just how toxic it is, OP should just be firm and brutually honest with how it is. Sometimes for people to realize how bad your situation is, you just have to get firm with them and just say "Hey, it's not an overreaction. I am being taken advantage of and it's a toxic situation. I know you mean well but the situation is much more severe than you realize, and I don't appreciate being told to disregard the things that are happening." If they still don't get it, get better friends. It might seem mean but when I was being s3xu4lly harassed by my dad's father, my mom's dad would disregard my ranting of the s3xu4l harrassment until I said "Look, this isn't okay. His behavior is not okay. Him touching my butt and thighs despite me constantly asking him to stop." When I was blunt about it, he finally understood what I was saying and realized I was right.

When dealing with a malignant narcissist as this woman's mother, the only thing you can do is put up boundaries if she continues to disrespect those, you have to consider distancing yourself, either go what s called in narc survivours terms Low-contact and if that gets breached, no-contact. That means social media, phones, address, everything. These people will destroy you and you are far too young to be dealing with such a toxic situation and family member. There are many support groups for narc survivours out there, on-line communities such as F#(book have many, they are everywhere online, do try taking that route and speak to your therapist about ways you can distance yourself sanely and safely. This is truly an abusive, damaging situation for anyone to be in.

If I were ever to use a wedding as the scene for my proposal, which I wouldn’t do anything but I’d someone were too, the only way it would be semi acceptable would be to do it AFTER the bride and groom drive away. Everyone’s all gathered together and so lovestruck and happy after a successful marriage and most importantly of all the bride and groom have already left. That’s all. From the moment the bride and groom arrive to the moment they drive away to their honeymoon all attention should be on them! Stealing the spotlight at someone else’s wedding is morally reprehensible! Well except for during the speeches but even those are supposed to be given in their honor and be mostly about them.

In every story here has there been none who have been the jerk. 1. The only way engaging someone at someone else's wedding is okay is if the people who are getting married are okay with it (as in they asked and got permissions). I've seen a video where instead of the bride of a wedding throwing the flowers to the crowd, she hands it to her friend, and her friend's bf goes and proposes. And sometimes it is cute seeing engagement at a wedding, but it always depends on the situation and people. Which is why asking comes in handy. 2. He already agreed that if his son did not eat the steak, he would pay for it. And I'm sorry, but the kid is also at fault, he's old enough to realize he cannot eat that much steak. And, it's your money. 3. From the start, I was saying no, because a mother should love her children equally. And it's even worse that she makes you do all the chores. And flat out saying she loves her other sons more than you is even worse. Your bf and friend are also in the wrong, your mother has been rude to you from the start, and when you finally want to give your opinions, you're in the wrong? No. Also, the fact that the 'kids' are now adults, they should definitely be taking care of themselves and their messes now. 4. Your mother should respect you a bit more and should let you be yourself. She's also not in the right for dismissing your friends or behaving rudely. She sounds like a rude person in general. 5. You dating her and her saying that you're not enough company is definitely not good. If she's seeing you but is also with another guy, I'd think it'd be better just for her to say goodbye. Sad for you but I'd prefer having my gf leave for another guy knowing that at least you don't have to worry about anything said or done behind your back. Also, that seat was your uncle's so that's also not nice of her to let someone sit down when it was for someone else. I understand that you may have been rude, but she's definitely more of a jerk than you.

The Story of useless Brothers and Toxic Mother; OP should go no contact with that family and go figure out how to live without them, the toxic mother just wants you back just to be their house maid again to put it bluntly. Last Story; OP is not at fault and not even a jerk and should break up with the GF, the GF is wrong through out that situation. The GF brought someone else in a family celebration that's sketchy and disrespectful then the GF cause a scene so the OP has to put her on the spot and worst of all the OP wants space but the GF does gets point and tries to say she wasn't in the wrong.

Story 1-I get that it’s inappropriate to ask for marriage at someone else’s wedding but there is a specific time when it can be allowed (although you must ask the people who are getting married to see if it’s ok with them,if the answer is no try another time at another place,if the answer is yes then wait till the end so married couple can have their time to be the spotlight at their own wedding

The narrator apparently has never order a tomahawk or wagyu beef if he thinks $190 is expensive for that.
@QuickManEXE Жыл бұрын
Absolutely.... Tomahawk steaks are HUGE. Some high end places will make you pre-pay if you order one as well.

@@QuickManEXE Even so, steak is still criminally expensive in the U.S. Then again, I live in a country that exports beef and has very strict food import standards.

1st story: Proposing at someone else's wedding, esp. when the bride and groom didn't know, is a HUGE dick move. 3rd story: My father died in 2000, In the will he left each of us, me and my two brothers, some land and a house to go with it, PLUS a fourth property and building that has been used for storage that is in all three of our names. We each pay property taxes on this property (as well as our own) but that's it. Since 2000, I have mowed the lawn on this property. I pay for any and all maintenance. My niece has stored her belongings inside that building for more than 15 years, with $0 paid in storage fees and I believe she's pretty much forgotten her crap in that time because I haven't once seen her come back for it. I can't throw it away, I can't sell it or else my brother, who wouldn't piss on me if I were on fire, literally, wouldn't approve

Perhaps for a bit of cash, my brothers could arrange a break in and burglary of that fourth property, get your niece’s things out of there? 😉 (J/K) Seriously, my sympathies. And my condolences regarding your dad.

The last story escalated very quickly. The op did mention that his girlfriend brought her friend a long because she feels left out which is different than boredom since some families have a habit of ignoring new people. Op said it wasn't true and that he included her but it might not be the case. But at the end of of the day she messed up in not telling her boyfriend. If she really felt left out with his family she could have talked to him and let him know she would bring a friend or not go at all but she didn't and didn't let up when he wished to be alone. I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt because some of my boyfriends family members go out of their way to exclude me even if my boyfriend gets pissed and argues with them so i just invite a friend sometimes if my boyfriend is ok with it in order to keep the peace. But at the end of the day she didn't talk to him about it.

Story 1. I'm not fond of weddings, but even I know you DON'T propose at SOMEONE ELSE'S wedding.🙄

Last story - Obviously it's over. Tell the guy to F off the moment he showed up. And publicly dump her and kick her out. DO NOT APOLOGIZE. She was Absolutely Wrong to invite anyone Especially a guy. You did Nothing wrong.

(Making brother pay story) Idk if it's just me, but I could easily eat that much food, and in 2 years younger than the kid. I feel like most 15 y/o teens can eat that much, saying that he'd take a bit and leave it is a HUGE understatement

The thing about narcissists (and I love doing this) they tell you you're fat or overweight etc. You just have to play the same game against her "I see you're wearing those gray hairs admirably!" "YOU don't look a day past 55" Etc
