You should distinguish between disinflation and deflation. Disinflation is policy-induced, the monetary authority adopts contractionary monetary policy to lower inflation. Deflation happens due to lack of aggregate demand, and it is one of the worst nightmares for macro policy makers due its self-sustaining nature and its destructiveness of the productive sector.

In reality inflation can hurt paupers but the other facet of inflation is that it might be sign economic development,inflation attracts investment and augments demand which certainly leads to enhance employment and economic development!! Conclusion- inflation has pros and cons both but it hurts daily wagers and taxpayers
@richardeastman98462 жыл бұрын
Inflation helps paupers and debtor households, businesses and governments that borrow and inflation hurts people with money going into the future (cash balances and bond that pay interest going forward). The creditors with promised set sums of future money love money deflation -- money supply contraction -- because it gives them a windfall in purchasing power with which to buy bankrupted companies, privatized public assets, foreclosed homes for slum-lord rental properties and buy- low-and-sell high real-estate speculation.

The explanation follows the usual narrative of the primary reasonf or de-/inflation is supply and demand. The usual term of inflation refers to consumer prices (CPI consumer price index). Inflation is calculated based on a mixture of products people normally buy. In contrast to CPI are several other indicators reflecting the production costs to produce those consumer items. For some unknown reasons, central banks increase their interest rates. This primarily impacts financial institutions and loans for houses. There is no direct impact on demand whatsoever. How would interest rate affect if people buy eg milk or a new mobile phone? How would interest rate affect the production costs? Companies would have to reduce production or even close business. But this only happens in worst case which is the beginning of recession. We are now at the beginning of fertilizer and grain shortage. How would increased interest rate help farmers to grow grain and have enough grain to feed their livestock? Also there is the term of imported inflation. This means the price of commodities increases caused by factors outside of the market. This is currently the case with fossile resources. There is no way to lower the demand of essential products that would decrease the prices. And increasing the interest rate by central banks are actually making the situation worse as new investments and innovations are needed to overcome the crisis. One way to decrease inflation is to lower taxes but this is just symptomtic and lowers the income of the government which is needed on the other hand to pay out support to help the lower income people and subsidize companies that would help fighting the actual cause of inflation. People know why everything is more expensive now but they are still fighting symptoms instead of fighting the actual reasons
