124gr full power FMJ for training in my P30’s. Cycles 100% no matter the grip conditions, stretches out well to 50 and 100 yards, and only costs a touch more than 115 to reload. Cheers gents, well done video!

Thank you, Mr. Langdon! You confirmed that I'm not crazy! My PX4 CC definitely shoots Magtech FMJ in tighter groups than S&B FMJ 115GR and it does not like Norma 108GR MHP, their 65GR frangibles & ARX ammo offerings (mis-feeds ALOT) but their NXD shoots great in my PX4! I couldn't figure out what the problem was so this video was very helpful in helping me understand what is going on, here! )I will add that all 124GR products I've tried over the last couple of years shoot great in my PX4CC, too!)

Larry Seecamp designed his .32 LWS pistol to function with the Winchester Silvertip. From what was known from actual shootings. The 60 grain Silvertip was effective. Newer ammunition developed later on like the Speer Gold Dot and Federal Hydrashok should be as reliable in the other .32 ACP pistols like the Beretta Tomcat.

In 9mm, S&B 124gr fmj has been a reliable range ammo for me. For defense, 124gr Federal HST +p law enforcement hollow point.

Might be more expensive but I always enjoy practicing with softer shooting 147gr than more blasty 115gr.

Would that someone like LTT would work their magic on a .32acp deep concealment pistol. Something like the Beretta Tomcat or even the Kel-Tec. .32acp meets the FBI minimum penetration requirements, and the little pistols are easy to carry in the summer.

We load plain Jane fmj in all of our autos, from .22lr to .45acp...by a hair, fmj will run a smidgen more reliably, and that is King for us...we do not worry about over penetration, we do not worry about 'stopping power'...bullet weight and velocity mean nothing...we want reliability, the guns to run and run...the ammo manufacturers have sold the public on expanding ammo, at great profit and so-so performance...it might be worse that +p, +p+, and who knows what else is also being pushed on folks...perhaps if a person is not satisfied with a particular firearm, a different caliber might bring satisfaction...I still fear the muzzle loader shooting that big, round, heavy ball of lead, which has been killing people for several hundred years before all these fancy bullets appeared...go figure...

Assuming you don't plan on reloading, is there any disadvantage to using steel case 9mm and 45 ammo for practice?
@onpsxmember2 ай бұрын
The steel case material is regarded as harder on the guns. All parts coming in contact with it have to deal with a less malleable material than brass. You have to see if there is enough of a price difference to make it worth it and if your pistol is known for handling it well. If you can make a bargain, QC is fine and it runs in your pistol it can be interesting. Keep in mind that the weight of the cartridges changes too if you think of buying and storing a lot and that some ranges can have their own policies not allowing steel or aluminum cased ammo.

Having trouble with my brand new PX4 compact carry 2. Had the shop lubricate it, but at their range I had a lot of malfunctions. Failure to feed. I was shooting MHP 85 grain. When I switched to sig 147 it worked. I also have issues of racking the slide. I’m used to revolvers and 92fs, I usually don’t let the slide go but slowly guide it back. Any advice?
@Kylef77352 ай бұрын
Some wildly light out of normal range ammo of course is going to function less optimally than normal weight ammo. That's expected. Make sure when racking the slide, you rack it as hard and fast as possible. The slide experiences over 100gs of force every time it fires, when we operate the slide we want to operate it as closely to how it works when firing. Including letting the slide go forward under max spring pressure, do not baby the slide closed.
@Ol-T18642 ай бұрын
@@Kylef7735 thank you for the insights. When it’s empty, should I baby the slide? I think I’m just being too delicate in part. Apparently, berettas from Italy are also coated for transport that causes issues. I cleaned it thoroughly and hopefully wont have that issue next time I go.
@onpsxmember2 ай бұрын
Just my 2 cents: Can be the overall length of the ammo or shape of the bullet during feeding and how you load it. The shorter the handgun, the more the springs have to work in the reduced space they have. So they're stiffer, making it harder to rack. You may try the following: Instead of moving only the slide and keeping the hand on the grip stationary, move the hand on the slide back towards you while moving the hand on the grip against that direction in one swift motion like a punch and then let go of the slide. It is a tough gun and can handle it. If you like you can ease the slide forward when it is empty but when it should strip a round from the magazine, up the ramp and in the chamber, don't interfere with the stored spring energy it needs. If you still have issues with that ammo, try a different one. Learn more about your pistol from the manual and train with it.
@Ol-T18642 ай бұрын
@@onpsxmember thank you for the advice, I’ll give it a try for sure. It is also a compact semi-auto so I’m sure things like that are messing with me. I’ve only owned revolvers and a duty sized semi-auto before this. The manual doesn’t seem to have exhaustive information on my issue. It basically says clean the gun and use proper ammo

@@Ol-T1864 Test different ammo as suggested by the video. If you like the 147gr load of sig, run that for a while and test some 124gr too. Blazer, Magtech, S&B. If you have it for concealed carry, see what classes are available near you. If you can record yourself at a range gives you more information what happens. Sadly I can do that rarely at local ranges cause people do dumb things as soon as a camera is involved. Dry fire with the exact same grip helps too.
