@@nick1500 does it look like the paint on this Miata at 10:54 ? God damn that's a lot of orange peel. I don't know if you priced it out yet but these top tier detail guys cost a ton of money. There's a reason our boy here drives a Lamborghini and has a Porsche track car
@Laz_Arus
@Laz_Arus Жыл бұрын
@@easley421 A little late to answer this, but that texture on the lower sections of the sides below the crease line is how they came from the factory. It was intentional. I believe the thoughts were that because the car was so low, the areas down there would be subjected to road debris and would be harder to maintain a mirror shine, so to circumvent that to some degree, they made it wrinkly. I haven't measured the paint thickness in those areas on mine. Perhaps I should just to appease my curiosity.

Perfect video to start the friday. Normally i dont really watch car cleaning videos because they just repeat the same stuff over and over and over again just with another car. But Larry gets out there to find these cars and search info and their history etc etc. Sometimes he buys them and cleans them up then sells for profit. Or donates to charities etc. Just a big fan of everything you do Larry. Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰

Great video, Larry, as always, and beautiful little car. What gets me about this car is how someone owned it, clearly took very good care of it, but only drove it 1500 miles in the 3 years it was driven. I've always wanted a Miata or something similar, but never really been in a life situation where it made financial sense to have one, and I can tell you that if I finally got one I'd rack up those 1500 miles in the first month!

Same here, it kinda makes me reconsider how many car collectors are just wasting their time, collecting their dream car but never enjoying it like they are supposed to! @@HorrorUberAlles I suspect he had more than just the one Miata but I totally agree. In fact, I used to own a concourse-level 1969 Road Runner Convertible. I had it for 12 years but the last two years, it became such a hassle to drive it because people are just getting stupider and stupider and there are more and more cars on the road. It got to where I was afraid to use it and I thought to myself, "If I can't enjoy it on the road, then WTF am I doing with it?" and I sold it.

I get that the owner/family wanted to be meticulous about it and that’s awesome, but why the insistence that the top never come down? That’s exactly what it was designed to do and it’s not going to do any damage or devalue it at all. Heck, as part of the inspection process at the factory they probably put the top through the full range of motion anyway. I would think irreversibly removing some paint through a correction would be a bigger deal to them than putting the top down and back up which is something nobody could ever notice.

One thing to note about NAs is that the spark plug leads don't fully seal off the spark plug tubes, so be sure to pull them off and blow them out with compressed air if you decide to pressure wash your engine bay. Otherwise the water will pool there and you'll end up with either no start or rough idle/misfire.

I respect you sir. I love manscaping my cars. Nothing is more rewarding. I love what you do and I love your channel. You give us all the answers and ask for nothing in return. Thank you.

Great, great find and nice outcome. My family had one of those, same color and year, and it was such a blast to drive. We all used it as our primary car at some point. The square of sticky residue on the rim right at 6:40 gave immense flashbacks to trying clean those same marks back in the 90s/2000s. I have no idea what they were, but seemed to permanently mark our rims.

@ammonyc Larry I'm a up and coming full time Mobile detailer. You have inspired me for over 10 years and finally these last 2 months I took the plunge and started my own business called VSM Detailing Spa in Houston. I heard in one of your past videos im thinking in the tour of your current shop you mentioned that you never really spent money on food or alcohol. So my question is during lunch and for snacking during detail jobs what are some of your favorite meal and snack ideas? I caught you once mentioning Cliff bars or granola. Anything else you can give us? Thank you so much for what you do. - An Inspiring up and coming Mobile Detailer, Chris

I too recently detailed a red 1990 Mita Convertible - same wheels and black top. It is garaged in the northeast winter and run Spring through Autumn. Not quite in the shape as this 1500-mile beauty but not bad for a 30+year old car. Yes...verrry thin paint - I needed to be REALLY deft and patient during machine polishing with the single stage paint - took what I could/left what I should! Once done - coat of sealant and topped with a coat of Carnuba. Gorgeous. This vid just puts the cherry on top of this fabulous survivor. Sweet!👌🏼

I had a 1990, 5 speed, all manual (no power steering or brakes) Vin indicates it was finished being built some time in April of 1989. It was ragged out and modded. I wanted to bring it back to it's former glory but wound up having to give it to someone with more capabilities. I'm unsure when they started building them in preparation for 1990 but that had to be one of the earliest. It had 250k when I bought it for $2k and it had 289k when I sold it for $1,500.
