extremely helpful video! I used 10lb test fishing line + blow dryer + Goo Gone and the dryer worked VERY quickly - can't imagine taking the risk of a heat gun when the blow dryer was so fast (30-45 sec per badge). after the badges were off, the excess adhesive tape rolled right off by hand (2016 Toyota Highlander), so the Goo Gone was just for cleanup and took 60 secs (I could have skipped it!). then wiped clean and hand waxed. done! total time = heating badge, 1 min.; fishing line, 2 mins.; removing excess adhesive, 5 mins; Goo Gone and wiping clean, 5 mins. Difficulty level is like a 3/10. And this was my first time. Thank you!

You have some great tutorial videos. A couple of things. First and foremost before removing any badges make sure they are not mounted on. Many manufacturers mount them with two or more pins. If you remove it there will be holes in the bodywork. You can easily go to the dealer and ask them about that part and they can show you on a schematic how it is mounted. There is an easier way to remove the glue. Instead of using a plastic razor (which can scratch the paint), take your finger (works best with rubber gloves) and roll the tape over itself. You start by just slowly rubbing a finger over a thin side of the glue and it will roll and ball up. It will make it much easier to remove the remaining glue as it sticks to itself. I have removed badges for over 20 years and found this to be the easiest, safest and fastest method.

kevin rafferty I really didn´t think and didn´t know that any car manufacturers still used badge pins - but as I can see from the comments to this video clip - this is still the case. Good video. The problem is alot of emblems have a stud or 2 in addition to the glue. So you need to get behind them and crack off the studs then use the fishing line. Subaru I'm talking to you. The bright side is that I was replacing one Subaru emblem for another one that was another color on my STI, so the leftover goo wasn't an issue, but bending the metal around the emblem prying could be.....

Do you have any reservations about using WD40 or mineral oil to remove adhesive from body paint? I've used WD40 to remove sticker residue (from state-required stickers) pretty successfully, and it avoids the risk of scratches from rubbing anything back and forth against the paint, which is probably softened by heat. It's also less volatile and harsh than the solvents.

WD40 works like a charm and it will not damage paint.

You have some really great videos. I really enjoyed the barn find 912 restoration learned a lot when it came to removing mold on a leather interior.

Have you ever tried speedy 500? If you work fast with it the stuff does a good job without damaging the paint at all.

Everyone that knows cars we'll would know that was a cheap idea. And anyone that knows cars doesn't need a damn badge to remind them that car is a GTR.

I’ve found that a combination of solvent remover and steam is a really fast way to remove all the gunk safety 👍 I’m a detailer in the uk and love your videos with very hints and tips. Keep up the great work 👍

SO you polished it. But didn't think to do this first since you're heating stuff up putting chemicals and all that on it. Good job using your head.
